I’m pleased, and proud to say that the 2023 USA NKF nationals season has come to and end! This group of athletes has been working incredibly hard in pursuit of self improvement and national glory! We’ve had 9 students competing at local, out of state, and national level tournaments winning over 30 medals and 9 trophies, collectively. Last week 8 of us competed at the US National Championships in Richmond VA, where we as a team faced our toughest competitors from all over the United States. We ended our week with 3 🥇 3🥈 4 🥉, and our very own Elizabeth Senpai qualified for the Team USA Junior pool in her first ever elite kumite debut! Way to go team! Onwards and upwards from here!

Our new Kanban has successfully been installed at the dojo! Sensei worked hard at creating something for the dojo with a very traditional feeling. He selected the slab of wood, cleaned it up, cut the top and bottom edges so they were straight, and hand wrote the Japanese calligraphy on the board! Almost every dojo on Okinawa has a kanban at the entrance, and we wanted to pay homage to our Okinawan lineage by adorning our entrance with one as well!
