DO THE EXTRA WORKOUTS

This boy has put in countless hours in the gym; before practice, after practice, off season, summers, weekends, one on one training, virtual training, PT, all the things. Even through injury, therapy, sitting on the sidelines; he kept pushing forward. And this is one of the many payoffs to all that hard work!! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ

Mathews High School golf placed fifth as a team in Tuesdayโ€™s Region 1A tournament at the Golden Eagle Golf Club in Irvington, and MHS freshman Brandon Hubbard (above) qualified for the state tournament. Hubbard led the MHS pack with a score of 84 and Chase Ambrose was not too far behind with a 92.

He placed sixth overall, which earned him a spot in the state tournament set for Oct. 13 at the Hobbs Hole course in Tappahannock. โ€œHe fought very hard today and even during his mistakes, he kept his composure and kept up the fight,โ€ said MHS golf coach Jake Jackson. โ€œThe sky is the limit for that young man.โ€

Hereโ€™s what sheโ€™s gotta say about her journey so far:
โ€œI started Sprint 8 back on January 1, 2025. I have noticed that I am stronger in every day life stuff. Such as just picking up a 24 case of bottled water at the grocery store. I play pickle ball about 3 times a week. I have noticed that I can run down balls on the court more so than last year. I can't wait to get my diet in check and watch the weight fall off. Thank you Hope for pushing me to be a better version of myself.โ€

LEVEL UP! Starting 7/7/25, is a 4-week teen strength training program designed to help 12-17 year-old teens gain strength, speed, power, agility, and endurance. Under the eye of our certified trainers, participants will learn proper strength training methods, improve athletic skills, gain strength and power, and refine balance and coordination.
