SEHER SCHULTETUS RACING
Seher Schultetus Racing is a team based out of Wyoming, Michigan. With a potent 1979 Camaro, this team has a car that looks sinister, and will make you plug your ears. This year the team will be competing in Drag Radial racing all over the state of Michigan, as well as other events when possible. ell as The Import Domestic Showdown, at US131 Motorsports Park will be a big event at the home track for SSR. The team consists of many people, but the core comes down to the traveling crew of Driver Greg Seher, car owner Chris Schultetus, family/crew member Gary Seher, Justin Hunt on data acquisition and Daniel dewaha . “It’s going to be a fun and educating year. We have some good goals set for this season and some awesome sponsors. We hope to reach down to the 4’s in the 1/8th mile.” said Greg. That’s a pretty good number to reach for in the radial class. It isn’t without the help of great sponsors that SSR is going at the speeds they are. From day one, the chassis work has been done by Go Fast Productions, based out of Wyoming as well. Shop owner Jim Kline has a great group of workers who are always able to get quick repairs when Seher Schultetus Racing has been in need. For SSR, fortunately, those needs have been nothing major for the Camaro. Transmission work has been top notch through JD Motorsports of White Cloud, Michigan. Visner Engine Development has done head work and helped with dyno time. “It’s a great circle to be a part of. It’s one big family,” the crew agreed. The 1979 Camaro has a ¾ chassis, sporting a nice pair of 295/65R15 mickey Thompson radials out back wrapped around some slick Champion Billet Wheels 15x12 double bead-locked. The two-speed power glide sits behind a stout 636 cubic inch big chief headed BBC, Equipped with 3 Speedtech Nitrous systems. A nice little shot off the line and progressive controller brings in the power down track. This car has some serious potential! It’s suspension is controlled with top shelf Menscer Motorsports components. An MSD Grid takes care of the electronics portion. With Greg working side by side on tuning decisions with Chris, he makes the needed adjustments when it comes down to laying down a number. So far the car has been 4.63 in the 1/8th mile, and 7.53@184 mph the ¼ mile. These numbers setting personal best times for Greg behind the wheel, he simply said this, “It didn’t feel like it. The car was smooth and straight!”
While the team is not racing it is still a family atmosphere. Be it a day on the lake tubing or relaxing, or a fun family dinner. It is never short to say this is a close team.
