Red Baron Arena & Expo The Red Baron Arena and Expo features two sheets of ice in the winter and an Expo Center on one side and Ice on the other in the Summer.

With its state of the art 14' x 25' HD video board and premium sound package. Marshall looks to be the host for many local, regional, and state conferences with the Red Baron Arena and Expo. The Red Baron Arena & Expo opened in June of 2016.

Todayโ€™s throwback takes us back to the very first event ever held at the Red Baron Arena & Expo, on this day 10 years ago! ๐ŸŽ‰

Just days after opening, the facility welcomed hundreds of visitors for a public Open House and served as a stop on the University of Minnesotaโ€™s Gopher Road Trip.

Guests got their first look inside the brand-new facility, touring the ice arena, expo space, club room, locker rooms, heated viewing areas, and Daktronics video board. After years of planning and construction, the community finally had the opportunity to see the finished product firsthand. โค๏ธ

The Marshall Independent captured the excitement of the day, including comments from visitors seeing the facility for the first time and the pride felt by those who helped bring the project to life.

Did you know? Red Baron Arena & Expo has welcomed thousands of visitors each year for tournaments, expos, concerts, meetings, banquets, and community events. ๐Ÿ’๐ŸŽค๐ŸŽช

One of the most memorable chapters in our 10 year history came during the COVID-19 pandemic. When restrictions began to ease and limited attendance was permitted in Minnesota, the Red Baron Arena & Expo became the temporary home of the Fairbanks Ice Dogs Hockey Club. This partnership gave the team an opportunity to continue their season while creating a lasting connection between our communities that ultimately led to a Sister City relationship between Marshall and Fairbanks. ๐Ÿค

Post pandemic, our arena is filled annually to near capacity, showcasing the incredible energy and community support that has made the last decade so special.

We are honored that Savannah, Alondra, and Ju from Southwest Minnesota State University chose to showcase the Red Baron Arena & Expo at the Business Professionals of America National Leadership Conference on the national stageโ€”and we're thrilled to congratulate them on earning 2nd Place in the Virtual Multimedia and Promotion Competition category! ๐Ÿ†

As part of our 10-Year Anniversary Series, we're taking a look back at the construction of what would become the Red Baron Arena & Expo.

๐Ÿ“… The journey began years before the doors opened, as community leaders, partners, and supporters worked together to create a regional destination for sports, entertainment, business, and community events.

๐Ÿ“ฐ In November 2014, plans for the Regional Sports Center officially moved forward, marking a major step toward making the vision a reality.

๐Ÿค A key milestone followed when The Schwan Food Company (now CJ Schwan's) helped bring the project to life through its support of the development and donation of land for the Regional Sports Center campus.

๐Ÿšง Construction began in 2015, transforming an empty piece of land into a facility unlike anything else in Southwest Minnesota.

๐Ÿ—๏ธ Steel beams were raised.
๐Ÿงฑ Walls took shape.
โ„๏ธ Ice sheets were installed.
โœจ And a community vision became reality.

๐Ÿ’ In September 2015, the facility was officially named the Red Baron Arena & Expo, honoring one of Schwan's most recognizable brands and its deep roots in Marshall.

The past decade has flown by faster than a Red Baron Squadron, carrying countless memories, milestones, and unforgettable moments along the way. From championship games and concerts to trade shows, community events, and everything in between, youโ€™ve helped make the Red Baron Arena & Expo what it is today.
