MEET THE STAFF OF SEASON 5

Lisa Devine-Downey- Tap 2&3, Ballet 1, Ballet 2, Musical theater 2

Lisa has been teaching and choreographing for many years. Lisa feels that dance is so powerful, bringing joy, freedom and confidence. She loves sharing this gift with her students.

Lisa danced competitively winning Nationals at Dance Educators of America with Touch of Class Dance Studio in the late 80’s. She attended the University of Performing Arts attaining a BFA in Theater Jazz Dance. Later, performing as a 76er’s Dream Team Dancer, Greg Thompson Production Company Dancer, Showboat Dancer/ Dance Captain, Royal Caribbean Cruise Line Nordic Empress Dancer, Magicians assistant for Murray Sawchuk
at The Magic Castle in Hollywood, California.

Miss Lisa’s greatest accomplishment is being a mom to her 4 children . She loves playing board games, taking day trips, and watching movies with her kids. Her favorite color is pink and she enjoys drinking coffee at local cafes with her girls.

MEET THE STAFF SZN 5

VALERIE AMISS- Company Ballet Technique

Valerie Amiss began her training at age eight under Sue Millington at the Regency Ballet. She continued her instruction with Victor Moreno and Alexei Yudenich, and at age 12 joined the Pennsylvania Ballet School under the direction of Bojan and Stephanie Spassoff. At age 15, Ms. Amiss spent a summer studying in Saratoga Springs, NY with members of New York City Ballet. She was nominated for the prestigious Princess Grace Award in 1994, and in 1995 performed at the Algur H. Meadows Award Ceremony to honor choreographer Paul Taylor. In the summer of that same year, she also performed with the Chautauqua Ballet Company, directed by Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux and Patricia McBride, and,in 1997, she was asked by Gloria Govrin and Sandra Jennings to performed at the St. Bart’s Music Festival on the island of St Bart’s.

Ms. Amiss joined Pennsylvania Ballet as an apprentice in 1992 under the direction of Christopher d’Amboise.. She became a member of the corps de ballet in 1993 and was promoted to soloist in 1999 with director Roy Kaiser. . In the summer of that year, she also represented the company at the Sintra Festival in Portugal. And in 2005, Ms. Amiss not only performed at the Edinburgh Festival in Scotland, where she danced featured roles in Christopher Wheeldon’s Swan Lake, but also performed Matthew Neenan’s 11:11 and Carmina Burana at New York City Center. Additionally, she had the honor of performing twice at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. as well as with Susan Jaffe and Nicole Hlinka for a Rock School benefit.

In summer of 1995, Ms. Amiss taught ballet and pointe classes at summer sessions for The Rock School of the Pennsylvania Ballet. As well, she has been a guest instructor at schools throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey. For seven years after her retirement from the stage, she was co-ballet mistress for the Academy of Ballet NJ in West Berlin, NJ. Ms. Amiss also had the pleasure of teaching ballet to aspiring figure skaters in Aston, PA. MEET THE STAFF SZN 5

ELLA BEALL- Saturday workshop coordinator and instructor

Ella Beall has been dancing and performing for 18 years. She has been a teacher and substitute for 4. She has a soft spot for young movers and strives to create a safe, fun, expressive space for dancers to thrive in. To Ella, Dance is a crucial form of expression, and she hopes to promote healthy movement, creativity, confidence, building a love for activity, and strong social connections in class.

During Ella’s 18 years of dance experience, she attended Chartertech High school for the Performing Arts, and studied dance every day with reputable staff. She is now continuing her education, obtaining her B.A. degree in Dance Performance at Stockton University. She is also a proud entrepreneur as the owner of “Ellabella”, a pop-up dance boutique. Through Ellabella, she provides dancers with thoughtfully curated apparel and accessories while continuing to make a meaningful impact within the dance community. She is thrilled to have the opportunity to work with young dancers and can’t wait to apply her knowledge and passion to a new generation of movers!

In her free time Ella loves to hangout with her family & friends, travel, go to the gym, take class, and babysit. Her favorite color is pink and her favorite dessert is ice cream!

STEVIE WILSON- acro 1, 2, 3, 4, company choreographer, musical theater 1

Stevie Wilson is a South Jersey native, dancer, choreographer, & teacher. She began her training at The Dance Forum South, where she was a member of the competitive company & began assisting classes at the age of 14. Throughout high school, she was actively involved in Absegami High School’s Dance & Emanon Players Theatre Program.

Stevie’s teaching philosophy is centered on balancing fun with discipline. She strives to create a positive, welcoming environment where dancers feel encouraged to learn, laugh, grow, & challenge themselves. Since joining Coastline this past year, Stevie has been grateful to become part of such an amazing dance family. She looks forward to helping students build confidence, develop strong technique, & to instill a passion for dance.

Outside of Coastline, Stevie is currently attending Stockton University, where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Education & Human Development. In her free time, she is a coffee enthusiast, loves shopping, locals summer, baseball & supporting youth arts!
