"Details take time. We started this design in th Fall of 2023. She began life on paper as a 37,38, 39, and finally ended up at 42 feet. The owner had two booked summers 2024 and 2025, which gave all of us time to get her just right for this day!

Her attributes are endless and I will get into the details of all of them later but for now, marvel at her! Her stained mahogany exterior highlighted by bronze fittings, give way to Prairie Beige decks, contrasting exquisitely with the Awlgrip off-white hull. I’m not going to say she is traditional, bespoke, Downeast, timeless…all words used way too much these days. She stands alone, making her own unique statement.

She is everything I dreamt she would be. My sincere thanks to the owner, the C.W. Hood and Lyman-Morse crews, and my incredible teammates in the design office, David Robison, and Steve McNally, for a job that is above and beyond. All of our experience and talents were brought to a new height on this girl."

So nice to have had the Hood42LM "Lesselyn" in town this week. The beautiful Hood-designed vessel was seen this week at the lower boatyard at Little Harbor. The large crane in the foreground belongs to Marblehead Trading Company.

David Robison drew up the custom table and chairs for the new Hood 42 LM “Lesselyn”. They are made of Sitka Spruce, so they are featherweight! They stow conveniently in each corner on their own cradles. With this moveable layout, the owner has plenty of flexibility. - Chris Hood

A nice article about the Hood42LM in the most recent issue of the Robb Report.

The newest yacht from Lyman-Morse looks to New England’s classic wooden boats while hiding plenty of modern engineering beneath the surface. The first Hood 42 LM pairs a sculpted profile and wood-clad cabin house with cold-molded composite construction that combines Douglas fir and Western red cedar with advanced laminates.

Modern touches are deliberately kept discreet, from a concealed electronics console and electronic windows to a carbon-fiber companionway door wrapped in varnished veneer. Twin 440 hp Volvo Pentas give the 42-footer a cruising speed in the mid-30-knot range.

The first Hood 42 LM will make its public debut at the Newport International Boat Show in September.
