Casco Bay hosted a great ILCA (Laser) Regatta this weekend with 43 boats. Varying conditions and shifty breezes made for tough sailing for the two divisions, but those at the top of the fleet were extremely consistent. Two Olympians graced our Size 7 division, one sailor kicked butt at age 86, and Sea Bags team member Erica finished third after a rocky first two races.

Busy weekend launching two boats and helping many others this weekend. Our J24 Wait For It… and our Etchells Etch-A-Sketchell are both in the water for the summer, masts up and rigged. Nice view of Portland when towed from to in Falmouth. Finally some warm weather up here in Maine! Lovely! Huge thanks to all who helped organize this launch, especially our very own rock star, president of the Etchells fleet, Jessica Harris!

Skipper Jiang Lin has become the first woman to collect the famous Tattersall Cup for the Sydney to Hobart overall winner.

The Etchells New England Championship wrapped up after seven races spread out over two days of sailing. Sunday was canceled due to a pending storm with damaging winds forecast. Jud Smith, Lars Osell, and Steve Girling won the event with only 17 points. Vertigo II from Coral Reef YC took second, with 25 points, and Tar&Feathered tied with Maine’s Olympian Dave Hughes with 28 points but Tar&Feathered from American/NYYC broke the tie breaker. Grateful to all those who organized this wonderful regatta with 27 boats. Next year they’re hoping for 40! We will be there!

Finished up our first travel Etchells Regatta in 21st. Proud of how we improved throughout the event and that we had two 15ths. There were some excellent sailors racing here from Canada and all over the US. Grateful to the other all women’s team on Africa for giving us some pointers last night that made a big difference today!

Hello Sea Bags fans. We don’t normally ask for donations on this page but 100% of the proceeds will support our beloved non-profit . Erica will be leading a racing clinic for intermediate women sailors in the fall, in exchange for donations. Date TBD at Sail Maine based on what works for the group. It is possible we could support beginner racers in one and intermediate racers in another. No matter what, we would love donations to support getting more people on the water in the sport we all love! ❤️ Thank you!
