Front Runners New York Supporting LGBTQ+ Running Since 1979 Front Runners has been an active running and multi-sport club for LGBT and LGBT-friendly athletes for more than 30 years.

We are affiliated with New York Road Runners (NYRR) and run as a club in the many races sponsored by NYRR throughout the five boroughs, particularly in Central Park. We encourage runners of all abilities to join the club and experience the vast social, fitness, and training benefits of membership. The club's activities are run by the Board of Directors, elected every year as required by the Club's bylaws. The centerpiece of the Front Runners New York experience is the Saturday morning fun run, which leaves from the Daniel Webster Statue in Central Park at 10 AM each week. We have runners of all levels come each week and run a variety of distances. We then congregate for bagels and coffee at Rutgers Church. Fun Runs also leave from Central Park on Wednesday nights at 7 PM. We have a robust speed training program that is free to members. If all that was not enough, we have an active contingent in Brooklyn on Tuesday nights in Prospect Park and have a vibrant Multi-Sport training program. After more than 30 years, FRNY continues to be true to its original mission of providing a healthy athletic and social experience to the LGBT community. We are bigger and better than ever and hope you join us for a run soon!

THE 23RD ANNUAL FRNY CROSS-COUNTRY MEET
WHERE: Van Cortlandt Park, Bronx
WHEN: Saturday, September 26th, 11:00am Start (Rain or Shine)

We are excited to announce that registration for the 2026 FRNY Cross-Country Meet is now OPEN! Join us and conquer the rolling hills of world-famous Van Cortlandt Park in 5 ENTIRE Ks OF SHEER EXCITEMENT! Runners will meet at the Tortoise & Hare statue, pick up their bib, and be guided to the start line.

Prizes for top 3 M/W/X Finishers! Prizes for best-in-age groups! First 100 participants will receive a fabulous pair of Front Runner glasses! There’s something for EVERYONE at the FRNY Cross-Country Meet!

COST: $25 Early-Bird (Until September 1st); $30 Pre-Registration;

$35 Day-of (Cash or Venmo Only)

ROUTE: The 5K Cross-Country route starts north of the Parade Ground, follows the Tortoise & Hare path back and around the Northwest Forest, and returns to finish on the east side of the Parade Ground.

The FRNY Cross-Country Meet is supported through the generosity of the Tom Cook Fund.
