ANCIENT RIVALRY ENDS AS MALVERN, GLENWOOD AGREE TO SETTLE DIFFERENCES WITH GOLF
MALVERN — Residents of Malvern and Glenwood will once again attempt diplomacy this Saturday at the annual Malvern/Glenwood Challenge at Fairview Hills Golf Course.
The event brings golfers from both communities together to settle decades of friendly rivalry the Midwestern way: with a two-person scramble and just enough trash talk to keep things interesting.
“Honestly, most of us get along just fine,” said one golfer. “But if Malvern wins, I fully intend to be insufferable about it until next year’s tournament.”
Participants will compete for bragging rights, temporary superiority, and the ability to casually mention the final score at coffee shops for the next 12 months.
Course officials report the greens are in outstanding condition, the flowers are blooming, and conditions are ideal for what experts are calling “passive-aggressive athletic competition.”
Forecasters predict beautiful weather, meaning the only storms expected this weekend will be emotional.
REAL TALK: The rivalry isn’t what it used to be, but it’s still fun to spend one day a year deciding which town gets to talk a little extra trash.
⛳ The Malvern/Glenwood Challenge tees off Saturday at 11:00 AM at Fairview Hills Golf Course.
🎵 After the tournament, head downtown for the Malvern Concert Series. Nothing brings communities together quite like live music, lawn chairs, food vendors, and collectively agreeing that the golf results weren’t actually that important anyway.
