We are so deeply saddened to share the unexpected and tragic passing of Mystic River Rugby Club legend, Adnan Kawuma.

Adnan was a staple of the club. He played with Mystic River's men's side when he was only 15 years old, brought out to the pitch by his Malden High Soccer Coach, and Mystic River Rugby Club's Captain, Jamie Green.

A young man from Uganda trying to find his way in Boston quickly became a pillar in the Mystic River family and community.

Adnan played with Mystic River over the course of 20 years, donning the Mystic logo most recently at the New England Free Jacks' Golden Oldies Old Boys tournament this spring, which of course, he played a part in winning hardware, as being a champion was in his DNA, not just in rugby, but in life.

He always shared his deep passion for rugby with those around him, with a massive smile, an infectious laugh, and world-class talent.

Losing Adnan has left a void in the hearts of not only our club, but of the rugby community and anyone who knew him. Those that had the pleasure of playing with or against him will tell you he was nothing short of an incredible person.

We ask that you please keep Adnan's family and friends in your thoughts and prayers as we all mourn the loss of a brother taken far too early from this world.

And with that, please donate to the GoFundMe attached as we aim to provide his family with even a fraction of what Adnan gave to Mystic River Rugby Club through his love, friendship, pride, and his legacy.

We also ask that you share your memories, photos, and love for Adnan as we know his spirit and his legend will live on forever.

Congratulations to all the athletes that competed at the Men’s All Star Challenge this weekend. An amazing tournament showcasing the incredible rugby talent across the country. The boys fell 30–24 in a hard-fought ARP Final. After trailing 30–10, Mystic stormed back with heart and grit — tries from Remy Thomson, Tevita Sole, and Mani Young, with Leander “Blue” McQuade perfect from the tee (3/3). Huge efforts from injury replacements Keegan Bliss and Mike Moscaritolo kept us in it until the final whistle.
