THERE'S A PAUSE COMING.....
Not a stoppage, not an intermission, just a pause.
College players finish exams and come home. High school and middle school rinks go quiet. Bags get dropped by the door. Skates stay in the trunk a little longer. For a few days, the schedules loosen and the noise fades.
And hockey goes back to where it started.
Backyard rinks. Frozen ponds. Snow being shoveled under floodlights. Late-night shinny with no clock, no score, no pressure. Kids who’ve been grinding all season suddenly remember what it feels like to play just for fun. Parents lace up old skates. Neighbors wander over. Someone brings hot chocolate. Someone else brings a shovel.
This is the stretch of the year where everything slows down and somehow means more.
It’s a reminder that beyond the leagues, the rankings, the practices, and the long drives, hockey has always been about connection. About family, about community, and about those quiet winter nights where the only thing that matters is the sound of blades on ice and laughter carrying through the cold.
Christmas doesn’t stop the game. It reminds us why we love it.
Twice As Strong Hockey wants to wish everyone a peaceful pause, safe travels home, a few perfect skates under the lights, and a joyful holiday season.
Go Strong!
