An Early release LMS duty pistol in the wild. This build is set up biased for a lefty.

When we opened our shop @ 5yrs ago, we teamed up with LMS Defense to build 10 custom LMS duty pistols. We offered them at a very low price as a thank you to some of the really good dudes in the industry.

You can check out a review for the LMS builds on 1911Addicts from AJP.

Work Bench Pic - A Client's tune-up after 21k+ rounds. The pistol's grip module is being re-stippled for aggressive texture.

The pics show the wear pattern of our slide to frame fit; Side to side, up & down, top of the rails, full length of the slide's bottom & the frame's dust cover.

Having a tight slide to frame fit is required to get proper barrel
fit. You won't be able to get consistent barrel leg fit on the slide stop pin if the slide is moving up & down.

Work Bench Pics -
People dont realize what a TIGHT build really means. Its not just a slide to frame fit.

Typically a 9mm pistol with its lighter weight springs cant have anything interferring/rubbing or it tends to slow down the slide and create malfunctions. In my opinion this is one of the reasons why a lot of smaller caliber builds are "loose".

It takes a lot of hours and is extremely difficult to have tight Marvel tolerances, my slide stop pin mod ( #5 link), super light weight springs that makes it shoot stoopid soft AND also making it run reliably. Then add all the custom requests and make it "pretty" is why I work 60-70hr weeks and can only do about 22 builds a year.

A few pics showing some parts with "angel kiss" tolerances.

The ejector gap is barely kissing the slide at the rear. A dragging ejector will cause a failure in a hot minute !!!

The keyed recoil plug is just kissing on its front lip at the barrel. This could easily pinch into the barrel with a soft recoil spring and cause the slide to hang up going into battery.

The slide stop pin has full touch across the barrel legs without flat spots even AFTER my pin reduction mod. The pin will also case harden after a few thousand rounds.

The slide's bottom on the front, combined with the Marvel tight rail fit, will prevent any up & down movement and keep the front locked up tight for a gazillion rounds.

A 2011 45acp #0045 with a 5" bull barrel is being released into the wild to make way for another project. E-mail or DM me for more details.

Frame is anodized aluminum & Acc-U-Railed.

Custom OD green STI Gen1 grip module cerakoted black, rounded trigger guard, and stippled to look like a 1911 frame.

Keyed recoil plug with full length guide rod.
DLC'd slide, barrel and small parts.
All the bevels.
Only a few magazines through it after the final assembly.

Blacked out custom partial tri-cut 4.1" stippled slide (5" oal) monolith with "hooded" coned comp. I broke 4 end mills hogging out the hooded comp port.

The serrations are "closed/boxed-in" on the tri-cut top. These were manually cut on a Bridgeport mill. No CNC !
The serrations are too thin to sand clean. This made cutting the shallow (.010) closed/boxed-in portion very difficult.

The MJD Boresight grip has an AJP trigger guard.

Surefire is always the best option !

Work Bench Pics - On a monolith comp/sight block a 2-Piece guide rod is a lot easier to take down over a 1-piece.

The 1-piece rod can be challenging because it requires a perfect length paper clip that isnt too long and you have to get your fat fingers in the tight space between the comp and the slide.

One of the pics show how much a standard 5" guide rod sits short from the face of the comp.

I will typically mill out the backside of the comp's guide rod hole to allow an extended guide rod plug. I am able to run a 5" spring system with a commander slide.

Work bench pic - Cutting a Charyn optic plate.

The Charyn optic plate is designed to have the smallest footprint and because our rear sight is behind the optic it allows the use of overhanging optics without modification.

Our plates have a built-in tilt that aligns the optic to the top of the slide and It is mechanically locked into place and uses (4) 6-40 screws.

Typically we mill off the front bumper but our plates also allow the option of using the front bumper as a front sight post.

We are also able to bury the optic deeper if it is installed on a tri-cut. Because our rear sight is behind the optic we have the option to blend the front bumper to the tri-cut or the radiused slide top.

Work Bench Update Pics - Today is fit & blend an Infinity grip module.

Remove the "aftermarket looking" checkering on the Infinity main spring housing. You have to leave the bottom rows of checkering to ensure there isnt a large gap at the magwell.
Remove the memory bump and pin a Charyn Precision grip safety.

It can be difficult to get straight smooth lines on all axis and radius. Any wavey lines will pop out when the parts are polished and DLC'd.

Cut an AJP style trigger guard. Still need to finish blending the outer edges of the grip module to the frame to eliminate all sharp edges and hot spots.

Remove the Infinity logo on the magwell. Cut in side slots, open up & reprofile the inside chute, soften all the edges, flush fit the MSH pin.

Work Bench Pic - Infinity island barrel sight block.

The sight block will be permanently locktite to the barrel after DLC. Because DLC is applied in a deep vacuum, it will vaporize locktite. This is why some smiths arent able to do DLC on coned comp builds and insist on blueing.

This design allows a monolith frame to prevent the sight block from rotating and the over-hanging front sight will further lock-in the sight block. The handmade sight block is clocked perfectly to the rib.
