Kim Taylor Sensei - In Memoriam
It is with great sadness that just I learned of the passing of Kim Taylor Sensei; founder of the Sei Do Kai, good friend and colleague in the Japanese Sword arts. It was my great honor and privilege to be invited by Taylor Sensei to be a visiting Instructor at the Guelph School of Japanese Sword Arts (GSJSA) from 2002-2007, bringing groups of students from the Tamiya Ryu Iaijutsu Michigan Dojo to participate in the GSJSA while I taught seminars in the art of Tamiya Ryu Iaijutsu. I will always have very fond memories of the many other Instructors from around the world that I met at the GSJSA and the friendships that were forged with them thanks to Taylor Sensei. I will especially remember the many evenings spent relaxing at the traditional Pubs in Guelph with Taylor Sensei and the other Instructors and students after full days of teaching and training, discussing everything from the finer points of Bujutsu to world events.
The Martial Arts world has lost one of its very best but his legacy will continue unabated through his many students and the people whose lives he touched throughout his lifetime. I will always consider myself extremely fortunate to have been one of those people…take your rest now in Buddah’s care, Sensei.
