Eleven hot rods took the green flag and Chris Hicks starting in position 1 and with a Benjamin in his pocket took the lead with #5 of Dennis Werner hot on his bumper! Chris Johnson in the #13 modified prepared by Bobby Creech on the inside of the #5 and Barry Dalton in his #12 Gold Coors Banquet on the tails of all of all three making the top four all modified’s!
Back starting in 5th was the first Sportsman car of Charlie O'Reilly, #57 of Dylan Jenks dropping back and after no qualifying recorded time due to his car loosing power was the hard charging Kason Howe in the blue/gold 1970 Ford Torino David Pearson tribute car. Hicks had set sail in the modified division as had K.Howe in the sportsman division but all that was about to change at the halfway mark . There’s no clear video yet, but the 07 of Hicks was coming up fast on the #14 of K.Howe when suddenly around went Hicks in turn three. CAUTION ⚠️
Here’s where the outcome may have been affected. The modified’s of Werner and the
# 11 Bubba Farmer were now lined up for the restart but the field had been split mixing up lapped cars and the Sportsman cars of Jenks, O’Reilly and K.Howe not in the right single file order. Howe and O’Reilly didn’t take their positions back and race control deemed the order correct. Some explanation here before this is blown out of proportion.
VVR gives each track control of all on track race calls as they have the scoring system and are capable of calling races week after week. Secondly, all teams are required to have spotters and told they should be up in the spotters area with a Track Official. These two things were and are explained each week in VVR’s driver meetings before each race! Rumor and a known fact some were in the pits and others in the stand while spotting for their drivers.
So green flag comes out and off we go again. #13 fell out due to overheating, #14 developed a miss and lost power leaving Jenks and O’’Reilly to fight for the sportsman win and Werner had his hands full with Farmer running him down and a hard charging Hicks catching the #11. Meanwhile, O’Reilly was stuck behind the #92 of Todd Meredith who was holding off the yellow #3 until the two made contact resulting in both having bent fenders and bumpers leaving #57 to cruise to his first win in he series as was Dennis Werner in his beautiful Orange/Blue Mustang 🏁🏆

Eleven beautiful Vintage cars showed up on this glorious day in May! First practice went well with no issues as the 85 of Goldsmith pulled his rig into the pits. He would have to hurry and unload to make the second round which was also VVR’s qualifying session.

Well the second practice didn’t go to well, especially for the SWAG racing team. The #6 F100 known as the “6 Shooter” blew the throw out bearing seal and bent the push rod for the clutch master cylinder. As the cars took the green flag for practice the #14 being driven by young gun Kason Howe lost ignition power. Chris Hicks set the pace grabbing the SWAG Racing Pole Starter award and $100.

The field is set for the Dominion Raceway in Spotsylvania VirginiaaTucker's Plumbing INC.. 35 presented bySun Dropp:
