Points Race #3:

Red Plate Champ- Drew subbed for Rayceton Neely Racing . He hasn’t been in a champ kart since last season and it’s always tricky “cooking in someone else’s kitchen” so to speak 😝 but their race team couldn’t have made it easier. They made sure Drew was comfortable and had the kart dialed in for him. It was a huge compliment to be given this opportunity and to be the one they chose to trust with their kart and points. Thank you Rayceton! Drew qualified 4th and finished in P3. Solid day in this class.

Jr 1 Green Plate- Drew qualified 1st and brought home the win! It was a super close race the entire time between him and second. We some how forgot to take a picture in victory lane 🙃đŸ€Ș so you get these cute pictures instead!

Race day update:

Drew was the only red plate flat so we decided to pull Drew from that class today.

Drew is subbing for a driver in red plate champ. He qualified 4th out of 5 karts.

Drew has the pole in Jr 1 green plate. The times are close, so let’s see if he can stay consistent and keep the lead!

Willow bug raced her second juice box race. She showed improvement and had a blast.

It’s race day!!

Drew will be racing at Godspeed Raceway tomorrow for their Points Race #3! He will be racing both of his karts (red plate flat and green plate flat). He will also be a sub driver for a pal in red plate champ. It will be a busy day! We will post updates throughout the day!

The racing world is grieving. Once upon a time Kyle Busch was Drew’s favorite driver. He kept going back and forth between him and Joey Logano. His baby sister, Willow, recently started cheering for him. She even named one of her chickens after him. It was a complete shock when we saw the news. Our hearts are broken for his family. We are praying for peace and comfort for his family and friends during this time of mourning.

Race day recap:
First off, we want to thank everyone who called, texted or commented on Drew’s page wishing him luck and encouragement. It definitely lifted his spirits after qualifying.

During qualifying Drew hit a bump in the track which flattened his tire. He immediately lost speed and was passed. He je**ed a little too hard when the kart was going around him, and spun out. Not sure he would have qualified any better than he did if he hadn’t spun out since the tire was flat. He qualified 11th out of 11 karts.

Once it was feature time, Drew was pumped up and ready to dig. The flag officials were a big mess. The race started off on the wrong foot with the flag man throwing the green flag with the last few karts no where close to the rest of the field. Drew slowly dug his way up to 4th and held that position for several laps before a bump knocked him loose. The end of the race was a big mess. According to race monitor Drew finished 9th out of 11 karts.

We are so proud of him! Not only was this his first big race in green plate, but it was the most competition he has ever raced against. After a day full of unfortunate luck he ran a solid race and finished in the top 10. He had fun and he did his best. We couldn’t ask for anything more. We will be taking a couple of weeks off and be back at it again for the next points race at Godspeed Raceway!

Qualifying didn’t go like Drew had hoped for. He spun out and got a flat, so his lap times were not great. He will be starting at the back of the pack. It’s not over until we see the checkered flag though! We are trying to keep Drew’s spirit up by reminding him that this is his first year in green plate, so he is more than likely one of the youngest out there. We have no doubt that he will figure it out. His daddy is also trying to figure out gears since red plate has a gear rule, he has never had to adjust those. 🙃😅
