Welcome Ella!

đźš´ Welcome to the team, Ella Dishong!

We’re excited to announce that Ella has joined New England Track Cycling as our Seasonal Velodrome Operations & Events Associate for the 2026 season.

Many of you already know Ella from years of racing road, cyclocross, and mountain bikes throughout New England. Others know her through her father, Ed Dishong, who has been a longtime supporter of cycling in New England and a familiar face around Northeast Velodrome events.

A 2025 graduate of Lindenwood University and former member of their Varsity Cycling Team, Ella brings a wealth of cycling experience, enthusiasm, and a passion for growing the sport. This newly created seasonal position will help support rider experience, event operations, communications, grassroots programming, and our USA Cycling-sanctioned events throughout the season.

Ella shared:

“Cycling has been a big part of my life since I was eight years old, and I’ve been fortunate to compete in road, cyclocross, and mountain bike racing across the country. I’m excited to join the team at Northeast Velodrome, support riders and events, and explore a new cycling discipline.”

Please join us in welcoming Ella to the Northeast Velodrome community and be sure to say hello when you see her at the track this season!

2026 at Northeast Velodrome Starts Now — Here’s Some of What’s New

Hi All,

Our Board has worked hard over the offseason to prepare for the 2026 season. There’s a lot of things to share, in fact, so much I’ll be sending several updates over the next couple weeks as the season ramps up in order to spread the info out.

Updated Membership Options

We reviewed what other velodromes in North America offer for memberships, pricing and benefits. After much consideration we decided on a new structure outlined below. We also considered the cost of offerings in the past. For most members there should be little to no additional costs for your membership. Here’s a summary:

• Fitness Membership ($275)– for those that just want access for training. No event discounts or other benefits.
• Grassroots Membership ($300) – Similar to weeknight membership in prior years but includes discounts to weekend events.
• Velodrome Membership ($500) – Similar to supporting membership in prior years. Free weeknight and Non-USAC events. Access to the velodrome for personal training. Discounted entry to USAC events… and more.

Once you sign up for your membership, you will receive a coupon code to use for your discounts for race registrations. Please allow 24 hours to get your code.

For more detailed info, see our membership page, https://northeastvelodrome.wordpress.com/membership/

Soft Opening Saturday 4/25

Based on some feedback from last year, we’re introducing a few Saturday events. We’re also going to offer clinics on the same day as racing. 1st one will be Saturday 4/25 with the Omnium racing starting at noon. This will give new riders to race in their own group with rolling coaches and see racing from experienced riders live and in person to learn from.

Please share the clinic info to your team/club & others in your cycling circle.

Registration for the Saturday Omnium can be found here.

Today we only had 5 riders. It’s the Tuesday after a Monday holiday so a lot of people are starting the summer this week. The number of riders makes “mass start” a bit academic. T…

See that thing in the sky? The bright thing? That’s THE SUN! And you know what? It comes up before 6:00AM now and doesn’t set until 7:45PM. There’s just going to be more and more sun every day. You know what we can do with sun? We can RIDE! You know where’s a great place to ride? ON THE TRACK! Can you tell I’m excited? Let me tell you why.

This Sunday morning, May 4th (yes, Star Wars day) is the first event of our Omnium series this summer. On Tuesday evening, we have the first Mass Start day. And Thursday evening is the first Open Track/Timed Events day. When all that’s done… we do it all again next week. Hop over to the Weekly Events page for the full calendar and event descriptions and details.

Never ridden track before? We can help with that too. Monday May 5th (yes Sith Day) we have an evening Try The Track clinic. If weeknights aren’t your thing, there’s another clinic on Saturday morning. Don’t have a track bike? We have you covered with a range of sizes of rental bikes. A rental is included in any clinic registration and only $10 on race days, once you’re certified.

You know what? You can ride ALL SUMMER with a membership. We have options for weekend only riders, for weeknight racing and even for weekday lap sessions.

I’m off to convert my bike back from winter training (72″ gears, tall bars and front brake) to racing (not all that stuff). See you at the boards!

Happy Spring, Track Cyclists!

The 2025 season is right around the corner, and we couldn’t be more excited to get rolling at the Northeast Velodrome. We’ve got a packed calendar, new opportunities for riders, and plenty of ways to get involved in making this season the best one yet!

TL;DR: The season starts now! Check out the full schedule and register on BikeReg https://www.bikereg.com/events/?name=Northeast+velodrome

First, A Big Thank You 🙌

Our Board of Directors has been working tirelessly to set up a phenomenal season of racing, training, and community building. If you see them around the track, a quick thank-you means a lot. This sport runs on passion, and we’re grateful for every ounce they give.

We also deeply appreciate those who contributed to our year-end fundraiser. Your support helped us close the 2024 gap and gave us the confidence to invest in improvements that will benefit every rider this season.

Our 2025 Goals – Big Progress Already!

When we wrapped 2024, we set out to tackle three major priorities for this year:

1. Secure a better lease agreement:
Done! As of November, we now have full-year, 7-days-a-week access to the facility. This opens up huge scheduling possibilities—and you’ll see it in our jam-packed calendar.

2. Make getting certified easier and racing safer:
We’ve developed a more structured program for new riders, with regular “Try the Track” clinics to lower the barrier to entry. We’re running clinics three times a month, with two bonus sessions in April. Bring a friend who’s track-curious!

3. Improve officiating for Sunday Omniums:
We’re actively building a more reliable pool of USAC and experienced local officials—and we’re offering stipends to ensure consistency and quality.

But here’s where you come in: we’re launching an Officials Training Program and are calling on the community to get involved. The more trained officials we have, the smoother our events run—and the faster we can post weekly results on BikeReg.

If you’re interested in becoming a certified official (or just helping out in a pinch), message me directly. We’ll be hosting an online training session soon.

Membership & Early Access

Track opens officially April 1st (no joke!)—but if you become a supporting or non-racing member now, you can get access even earlier for training. Memberships are available here and remain the same price as last year. We’ve also added a non-racing option for those who just want to train, not compete. With a longer season, you’re getting more value than ever.

What’s New & What’s Back

The schedule from May to August follows a familiar pattern—plus a few exciting additions:

• “Try the Track” clinics: 16 sessions to get more riders certified and confident.

• Northeast Velodrome Championships – August 2nd: A USAC-sanctioned race with upgrade points on the line.

• Sunday Omniums: 20 full events, now extended into September. Possibly even October or November—if there’s interest, we’re game.

• Bonus April Omniums: Two early-season “pickup” races alongside the clinics.

By the Numbers 🗓️

Nobody else in New England is offering this level of events—and honestly, few velodromes in the country are:

• 20 Sunday Omniums
• 16 Tuesday Training/Pickup Events
• 16 Thursday Timed Events
• 16 “Try the Track” Clinics
• 2 Spring Pickup Omniums
• 1 Northeast Velodrome Championship

It’s an ambitious season—no doubt about it. But it’s also a test: how much racing can we support? How much do you, the community, want? We’ll be watching turnout to help shape 2026.

Help Us Keep It Rolling 🚧

Every clinic, every race, every clean-up day—this entire season runs on volunteer power. We truly can’t do it without you.

Whether you want to help at events, lend a hand during clean-up days, or join our new Officials Training Program, your involvement makes a big difference. If you’re even thinking about helping, we’d love to hear from you. Watch for upcoming calls for volunteers—or better yet, message me directly and get involved today.

Thank you for being part of New England’s vibrant track cycling community. We can’t wait to see you on the boards.

Let’s make 2025 our fastest, most fun season yet.

Ride on,
