To explain the significance of this recognition, it’s important to understand the odds of being selected to the All-State Team.
Please read below to fully grasp this achievement in its fullest sense.

The NCSCA chooses from every North Carolina Region’s First Teams to create Top 24 Team of Student Athletes in the 3A East and West divisions combined. Every 3A High School in the State of North Carolina is eligible to nominate players for All-Region status. The top players in each Region are eligible to be nominated for All-State honors. Once they are nominated for All-State honors, the NCSCA votes on who they feel is deserving of All-State recognition.
If you are lucky and have worked hard enough, your name is chosen from that long list of nominations from each Region and you represent the State of North Carolina as part of the 3A Division All-State Team.
You are recognized at a ceremony along with the other incredible athletes representing each of the following classifications.

- 1A
- 2A
- 3A
- 4A
- 5A
- 6A
- 7A
- 8A

Lincolnton High School is part of the West Region of North Carolina.
This year, there were an equal amount of Student-Athletes pulled from the 3A West Region and 3A East Region to represent the 3A Division in its entirety.
This means that Jake Wilson Tweed was among the 24 athletes selected from 58 3A schools in the entire state of North Carolina.

Needless to say, the odds are very much stacked against Student-Athletes aspiring to be a part of their All-State Team, however, when you you work as hard as Jake does day-in and day-out, it comes as no surprise.
As for Jake, this is just one more accolade to add to his already impressive academic and athletic resume.
