So proud of this team!! Jordy, you have set such a great example for the athletes on our team. Keep being you!

๐ŸฅŽ๐Ÿ’™ UNDER ARMOUR CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES RUNNER-UP | 10A DIVISION ๐Ÿ’™๐ŸฅŽ

What a weekend for these girls.

After battling through one of the toughest fields in the region, Prodigy Fastpitch 10U Velasquez finished as Runner-Up in the Under Armour Championship Series 10A Division in Kansas City.

This team went 4-0 in pool play, fought through weather delays, hit 3 over-the-fence home runs, and earned their way into Championship Sunday against some of the top competition in the Midwest.

Today, the girls left everything they had on the field in two hard-fought games. While we came up just short of the championship, this weekend was about much more than a trophy.

It was about:

๐Ÿ”ฅ Competing with confidence against elite teams
๐Ÿ”ฅ Responding when adversity showed up
๐Ÿ”ฅ Supporting each other through every inning
๐Ÿ”ฅ Proving that hard work pays off

The growth we've seen from this group is incredible. Their toughness, resilience, and willingness to battle for one another continues to make us proud every time they step between the lines.

A huge thank you to our families for making the trip, enduring the heat, weather delays, and long days at the ballpark. Your support means everything.

The hardware is nice, but the experience, lessons, and memories made this weekend are what will help shape these girls moving forward.

We're proud of every single player.

Runner-Up today. Hungry for more tomorrow.

We want to give a huge shoutout to Sandhills for taking a leadership role in protecting what matters most โ€” our athletes and their current ๐Ÿ™Œ

Early tryouts have become a growing distraction in youth sports, pulling focus away from the season our girls are still fighting through. Team chemistry, confidence, and development all suffer when attention shifts too early to โ€œnext year.โ€

Last year, our team made the decision to wait until our season was finished before hosting any tryouts โ€” and it was absolutely the right call for our athletes. Weโ€™re proud to continue that commitment again this year.

Sandhillsโ€™ decision to delay tryouts until after the season ends is a step in the right direction, and weโ€™re proud to stand with them.

As part of the Prodigy organization, our turning 11U team will once again wait until our current season is fully completed before hosting or participating in any tryouts.

Our girls deserve to finish what they started โ€” together, focused, and strong.๐Ÿ’ช

Letโ€™s keep the spotlight on the athletes, the work theyโ€™re putting in right now, and the team theyโ€™re committed to today.

๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿค Together, we can do better for our youth athletes. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿค

Struggled a bit to find the words for this post...so I'll start with the easy part. These girls amaze me ๐Ÿฅน.

As I watched them yesterday, I was reminded of the Little Apple Shootout, a 1-day 8U tournament in Manahattan, just a couple years ago. In the Championship game, no less than 75% of our dugout was in tears ๐Ÿ˜ญ before the end of the second inning. The other team scored multiple runs against us to jump out to an early lead and it sent them spiraling. They hadn't yet developed the tools and skills needed to be truly gritty and keep battling. We experienced a loss after 33 straight wins...nearly 12 months without a loss - it WRECKED them. To this day, that game, is all one of my all-time favorites.

Yesterday in the semi-finals, our opponent took a 4-run lead in the top of the 2nd. We huddled up before grabbing our bats and reminded ourselves that the only pitch that matters is the next one. They went out and played Prodigy softball and batted through the line-up, 15 plate appearances, batted for the entire 35+ minutes remaining on the timer, and scoring 11 runs!

In the Championship game they blocked out all the distractions (and there were a LOT), played for each other, and battled through extra innings to finish the weekend on top!๐Ÿ†๐Ÿฅ‡ Every single one of them contributed. They put the team before themselves by celebrating sac bunts and RBI's, cheering loud to win the dugout battle, and by playing whatever position the team needed in the moment.

Cherry ๐Ÿ’ on top - Emma hit her 1st over the fence ๐Ÿ’ฃ

It helped teach them that they have to come ready to play each and every game. It provided a foundation from which we have developed mental toughness, the ability to move on, to focus on the next pitch, and to lift up our teammates, especially if we are down. And WOW, this team showed their grit in a big way last night!
