OKC. First Out-of-State Tournament. First of Many.
This weekend was about more than softball. 🥎
It was about a group of players and families who have invested so much into this team getting the opportunity to spend a weekend together, making memories, building relationships, and continuing to strengthen the bond that makes this team special.
Like every tournament, there were highs and there were lows.
We had the opportunity to compete against teams from all over the country - Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, and even Alaska. Experiences like that are part of what makes this game so special. It challenges you, exposes you to different levels of competition, and gives these girls memories they’ll carry with them long after the final score is forgotten.
Bracket play ended sooner than we wanted, but these girls battled until the very last out. In our final game, we were just 60 feet away from tying the score and extending our tournament run. They never stopped fighting. 🐦⬛
The Oklahoma heat was relentless. There were plenty of moments when it would have been easy to hang their heads, make excuses, or quit. Instead, they kept competing. They kept grinding. They kept showing up for each other.
And that’s what makes this group special.
Sometimes it’s her making the big play. Sometimes it’s the next one up coming through in a big moment. Sometimes it’s the player nobody expected stepping up when the team needs it most.
But in the end, it’s ALWAYS US! 🖤 ❤️
That has become the identity of this team. Through the wins, the losses, the adversity, and the success, these girls continue to show up for one another.
We don’t believe in moral victories. The record book won’t show how close we were to making the championship bracket. It won’t show that we beat the #3 overall team in the tournament. It won’t show that we were one inning away from punching our ticket into the championship bracket.
What it will show is another step in the journey.
No rings. No trophies. No banners.
But plenty of lessons learned, memories made, and another weekend of growth for a group of young ladies who continue to get stronger - both physically and mentally - with every challenge they face.
The results will come. 🥎
For now, we keep working. We keep learning. We keep growing. We keep chasing what’s next.
The Road to the Show gave us a glimpse of where we are. Now it’s time to get back to work and continue becoming the team we know we can be.
No moral victories. Just growth. Just grit. Just us.
