Congratulations are in order for our very own Mark Hodges, who has officially passed his PGA of America Playing Ability Test (PAT)! 👏🏌♂️
Mark joined our team in March of 2025 with the intention of becoming the Assistant Pro at the new Tribrook Club. He has been an amazing addition to our club operations in so many ways. Not only does he have a passion for golf, but he also has a passion for our club and our community - a Lexington native, he learned the game and grew up playing on the old, infamous, Lexington Golf and Country Club course. He even worked in the Pro Shop as a teen! His parents, Vicki and Tim Hodges are both active golfers and club members.
When Mark's not out playing on the greens, he's busy raising a family of his own alongside his wife and running his microgreen business Three R’s Micro-greens Farm , growing fresh microgreens that our culinary team incorporates into their dishes. 🌱🍽
Read below as Mark describes in his own words what this means to him. 💚
"I've been hitting golf balls and playing golf as far back as I can remember. From the time I was 3 and could hold a plastic club I have loved golf. My dad has been my biggest inspiration. He started playing around the time I was born, and I just happened to come along at the perfect time. He was always playing golf and had a bunch of clubs that he had made for himself which led him to cutting down some clubs for me to use.
I never thought golf would lead me to this point in my life. The love of the game led me to this path. When I found out that a lot of head professionals and assistants at golf courses were members of the PGA, that stuck with me and I thought that seemed like a fun career path with an amazing opportunity to be a member of the biggest sports organization ever. The prestige of being a PGA Professional and being the face of the pro shop at the club you represent. What could be better!
If I had a message for anyone else who is pursuing a career as a PGA Professional, I would tell them that this is a big decision not to being taken lightly and that it is a full-on commitment to the bitter end and if it’s what you want to do then give it all you have. The world of golf will give you so much if you just give everything you have to offer.
The PAT was an extremely fun process that I am going to miss preparing for. I haven’t played under pressure in years and it was so fun to be out on a course with the added pressure of performing well. I’ve always loved competing on a golf course, and the PAT gives you the opportunity to test your abilities by preparing for 36 holes of golf that can determine your career path. I was fortunate to play the beautiful Renditions Golf Course. It was nerve wracking and I loved every moment!
I'm just grateful for this opportunity I've been given to have a career path that I am choosing and love and get to be the best I can be every day. I love the people I work with and the company I work for. I love that I can work at our local golf course and help make it special and meaningful to the people who are members and give them the best experiences I can each and every time."
