LOCR is thrilled to welcome Coach Aleksei Ivanov as its new Director of Rowing and Head Coach of Programs!

Aleksei will join LOCR in January 2027, bringing extensive experience as an elite athlete and collegiate and masters coach. A five-time Russian national lightweight rowing champion, he has competed and coached at a high level, including leading collegiate athletes to success at the national level in the United States.

Aleksei’s coaching philosophy combines a strong emphasis on technical efficiency, structured training, and long-term athlete development, drawing in part on the New Zealand school of rowing. His approach balances high standards with individualized coaching, helping athletes build confidence, develop their potential, and achieve sustainable progress on and off the water.

As Director of Rowing, Aleksei will focus on strengthening LOCR’s youth and masters programs, developing a consistent training culture, and creating opportunities for athletes of all levels to grow and succeed.

Aleksei is excited to join the LOCR community in the New Year as the club prepares for the Spring Sprint season and the next chapter of its growth. Please join LOCR’s Board of Directors and staff in giving Aleksei a warm welcome and supporting the continued development of our rowing programs!

Thanks for coming out for a Corporate Learn-to-Row event!

These adventurous athletes learned how to erg on a rowing machine, then got into eights with masters and high school volunteers to learn how to row. We then capped off the day with a close 500m race before heading back onto (mostly) dry land 🌧️🚣🏽‍♀️

Thanks for rowing with us!
