Join Cycle Zydeco next spring, April 20-24, 2022, for a fun 4-day cycling tour celebrating Zydeco, Cajun and Creole music, dancing, and food. Cycle Zydeco continues to draw people from far and wide to Acadiana to enjoy our world-renowned food, music and natural beauty in addition to Louisiana hospitality. ter a dormant 2012 year. Cycle Zydeco is now produced by TRAIL (Transportation Recreation Alternatives In Louisiana) in conjunction with Lafayette Convention & Visitors Center, St. Martin Parish Tourist Commission and St Landry Parish Tourist Commission. GENERAL INFORMATION:

Dolly Parton famously played the zydeco washboard alongside Rockin' Dopsie Sr. and his band in an episode of her ABC variety series titled "Down in New Orleans."

The television special was filmed on location in New Orleans and originally aired nationally on April 30, 1988.

During the performance, Rockin' Dopsie Sr. even gifted Dolly a custom-made washboard (frottoir) that was specially shaped out for her.

The Lineup & PerformersThe segment featured Rockin' Dopsie & The Cajun Twisters (also referred to as the Zydeco Twisters).

The core group performing with Dolly included:
Dolly Parton – Vocals and washboard
Rockin' Dopsie Sr. (Alton Rubin) – Accordion and vocals
Rockin' Dopsie Jr. (David Rubin) – Washboard/rub-board player (who helped Dolly rehearse and perform)
The Twisters – The rest of the Dopsie family rhythm section and band members
