🥊⚡ **Train Your Brain. Challenge Your Body. React with Purpose!**

Did you know that **SportReact** can be a great training tool for people living with Parkinson’s disease? 🧠💪

SportReact uses light, sound, and movement-based challenges to encourage quick reactions and purposeful movement. For someone with Parkinson’s, these activities can help work on:

🔴 **Reaction Time** – Responding quickly to a visual or auditory cue challenges the brain’s ability to process information and initiate movement.

🟡 **Hand-Eye Coordination** – Reaching for targets encourages coordination between what you see and how you move.

🟢 **Balance & Weight Shifting** – Moving toward different targets can challenge balance, stepping, and controlled weight transfer.

🔵 **Dual-Tasking** – Reacting to cues while moving challenges the brain to process information and coordinate movement at the same time.

🟣 **Big, Purposeful Movements** – Reaching, stepping, and turning toward targets can encourage larger, more deliberate movements.

And perhaps most importantly… **it’s FUN!** 🎯

Parkinson’s exercise doesn’t have to feel like exercise. By turning movement into a game, SportReact gives our participants another fun and engaging way to challenge both the **body and brain.**

💙 **A HUGE THANK YOU to Tipmont for providing the grant that made our SportReact system possible!**

Your support is helping us bring innovative tools and new opportunities to the people in our community living with Parkinson’s disease. We are incredibly grateful for your investment in our Parkinson’s community!

🥊 **Together, we’re keeping people moving, engaged, and fighting back against Parkinson’s!**

Our Rock Steady program will soon have a new home. We are super excited to be moving to our own facility made specifically to serve the Parkinson’s community.

🎉 BIG NEWS! We are excited to announce the Parkinson’s Activity & Resource Center! 🎉

The Parkinson’s Activity & Resource Center (PARC) will be a place where individuals and families impacted by Parkinson’s can come together to move, learn, connect, and fight back.

More than just a home for our growing Rock Steady Boxing program, the center will provide space for support groups, activities, educational opportunities, resources, and new programs designed to support every part of the Parkinson’s journey.

Our goal is to create a welcoming community where no one has to face Parkinson’s alone—a place to find encouragement, information, friendship, and opportunities to stay active and engaged.

We are so excited about what the future holds and can’t wait to welcome our community into the Parkinson’s Activity & Resource Center! 💛🥊

Follow along for updates and look for our grand opening in October.

Together, we are stronger. Together, we fight back!

👀✏️ **Did you know that your eyes are an important part of movement?**

The *"pencil push-up" is a simple exercise where you focus on a pencil as you slowly move it toward your nose and then back away. For people with Parkinson’s, exercises like this can help challenge the visual system and the coordination between your eyes and brain.

Why is that important? 👇

🔹 **Challenges eye coordination** – Parkinson’s can affect how smoothly and efficiently the eyes work together.

🔹 **Works on visual focus** – Following the pencil requires your eyes to maintain focus as the target gets closer.

🔹 **Supports eye-hand-brain coordination** – Visual information helps guide movement, and practicing this connection can be valuable for everyday activities.

🔹 **Can be useful for close-up tasks** – Reading, using a phone, eating, and other activities require our eyes to accurately focus on nearby objects.

🔹 **Simple but purposeful** – It doesn't require special equipment—just a pencil and a few moments of practice!

✏️ **Try it:** Hold a pencil at arm's length, focus on the tip, and slowly bring it toward your nose while keeping it clear and single. Stop if it becomes double or uncomfortable, then slowly move it back out.

💙 **Small exercises can target big parts of the Parkinson’s puzzle!**

*As always, exercises should be performed safely and can be modified based on individual needs. If you experience double vision, eye pain, dizziness, or significant visual changes, talk with your healthcare provider or an eye-care professional.*
