🏅 Congratulations to Clara Engel and Zane Cherrie! 🏅

The Kutztown Area School District is proud to recognize Clara Engel and Zane Cherrie as the 2026 recipients of the Dr. Richard P. Flannery Memorial Scholarship, also known as the Berks County Hall of Fame Scholar Athlete Award.

The awards were presented at the annual scholarship dinner on June 17 at the Victor Emmanuel Club in Reading, where Olympian and Hamburg graduate Karlie Heistand Kisha served as the keynote speaker.

This prestigious honor recognizes outstanding student-athletes who have demonstrated excellence in academics, athletics, leadership, community service, and a commitment to continuing their education.

Congratulations, Clara and Zane, on this well-deserved achievement! We are proud of your accomplishments and wish you continued success in all your future endeavors. 🐾

Mcconville’s Big Day Propels 2026 Kutztown Past Shillington

Caden Mcconville drove in four runs on two hits to lead 2026 Kutztown Youth B past Shillington Dodgers Youth B 18-2 on Tuesday at Cumru Elementary School. Caden Mcconville singled in the third inning, scoring three runs, and tripled in the second inning, scoring two.

2026 Kutztown Youth B opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to two singles. 2026 Kutztown Youth B first got on the board when Gavin Light singled, scoring two runs.

2026 Kutztown Youth B added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Caden Mcconville tripled to center field, and Gavin Light singled to the left side of the infield, each scoring two runs.

2026 Kutztown Youth B scored seven runs on three hits in the top of the third inning. Zach Hadley singled, scoring one run, Logan Marasco drew a walk, scoring one run, Caden Mcconville singled, scoring three runs, Liam Donchez singled, scoring one run, and Alexander Garcia drew a walk, scoring one run.

Zach Hadley earned the win for 2026 Kutztown Youth B. The starting pitcher surrendered three hits and two runs over four innings, striking out five and walking two. Micah Kim took the loss for Shillington Dodgers Youth B. The right-handed pitcher went two and one-third innings, giving up 10 runs (eight earned) on five hits, striking out two and walking seven. Caden Mcconville tossed one inning of shutout ball for 2026 Kutztown Youth B in relief. The reliever allowed zero hits, striking out one and walking one.

Caden Mcconville, Gavin Light, and Zach Hadley each collected two hits for 2026 Kutztown Youth B. 2026 Kutztown Youth B had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating 13 walks for the game. Logan Marasco and Rowan Mckeever-Fix led the team with three free passes each. Liam Donchez stole two bases.

Austin Smith led Shillington Dodgers Youth B with one run batted in. The third baseman went 1-for-1 on the day. Austin Kurshuk, Roland Marshall, and Austin Smith each collected one hit for Shillington Dodgers Youth B. Shillington Dodgers Youth B turned one double play in the game.

Powerful Pitching By Bergstrom Not Enough As Kutztown Cougars Lose To Norchester Bulldogs

Chris Bergstrom struck out 10 batters, but Kutztown Cougars Senior Legion 18U fell to Norchester Bulldogs 18U 4-2 at 439 E Main St, Kutztown, PA 19530 on Monday. Chris Bergstrom allowed five hits and three runs over six innings while walking one.

Kutztown Cougars Senior Legion 18U lost despite out-hitting Norchester Bulldogs 18U seven to six. Colten Mathias and Ashton Dunn each collected two hits for Kutztown Cougars Senior Legion 18U.

Norchester Bulldogs 18U were the first to get on the board in the first when Adam Stahl doubled, scoring two runs.

Norchester Bulldogs 18U added one run in the third. Adam Stahl singled down the left field line, making the score 3-0.

Kutztown Post 480 Cougars Make A Run Against Reading Groundhogs But Fall Short.

Kutztown Cougars Senior Legion 18U's effort to come back from down four runs in the third inning came up just short, as they fell 9-8 to Reading Groundhogs on Tuesday at 1801 N 5th St, Reading, PA 19601. Kutztown Cougars Senior Legion 18U closed the gap by scoring on an error, a ground out, and a walk.

Kutztown Cougars Senior Legion 18U fell despite leading 4-0 in the first.

Kutztown Cougars Senior Legion 18U got on the board in the top of the first inning after Colten Mathias singled down the right field line, Elliot Knutsen walked, Danny Yearick walked, and Kutztown Cougars Senior Legion 18U scored on a wild pitch, each scoring one run.

Reading Groundhogs flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the first, scoring six runs on five hits to take the lead, 6-4. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Adrian Gonzalez that drove in two.
