LOGANNNNNN! šŸ©¶šŸ¤

Congratulations, buddy! You embody so many of the qualities we look for in a great training partner, dedicated student, and future leader.

We’re incredibly proud of you and excited to watch you continue to grow, both on and off the mats.

Keep putting in the work, keep leading by example, and keep building with us. We’re just getting started! šŸ„‹

Schedule juggling with Sharon Nassif

School pickup, setting up GSJJ, and prepping for club soccer practice.

Lyla has become my setup partner and it’s been a great time to chat and catch up on how middle school is going and if she’s drank enough water before soccer practice 🤣

Finding moments in the moments.

A quick reminder: pricing increases October 1st, 2026.

Current members will keep their existing rate, and anyone who signs up before October 1st will lock in the current rate all the way into our new location and on.

New memberships after October 1st will receive the new pricing. This is an important step toward supporting the future move and growth of Gem State Jiu Jitsu. ā¤ļø

I absolutely love leg drags, but when you initiate one, you’re not just attempting a single pass…you’re entering into a system of movements.

The first leg drag can absolutely win the pass, and that should always be the goal. But against good guard players, you have to expect meaningful reactions.

That’s where the pass starts to build. Their response to the initial leg drag should create the next opportunity, rather than forcing you to reset and repeatedly chase the exact same pass.

It’s similar to wrestling. A good wrestler doesn’t necessarily take one shot, get stuffed, reset, and then take the exact same shot again. That first shot creates a reaction, and that reaction opens up a chain of options.

The leg drag should be approached the same way. The first attempt may finish the pass, but if it doesn’t, it should tell you where to go next.

Shoutout Tri Quang for the retention karate chop. Shoutout Cory Dan for connecting chain passing to chain wrestling for my brain.

Stay building my friends!

We are so proud of his growth on and off the mats and can’t wait to see how this compounds over the years.

Let’s keep building, buddy! šŸ“ˆ

Lilllyyyyy, we are going to miss you! You are an amazing human and we are so thankful to have been a part of your jiu jitsu journey.

When mom and dad said, ā€œyou guys made her enjoy it againā€ our cup was filled.

Please never quit, Lilly! Your guard is too rad!

Everyone was apparently after arms last night. šŸ˜‚

The room continues to elevate, and one of the biggest reasons why is that we understand what the training room is really for:

A dedicated space to practice against live resistance.

It’s not that serious. We don’t play the tough-guy act here at Gem State. We show up, we train hard, we help each other get better, and we come back the next day ready to do it again.

No egos. No proving anything.

Just getting better. Every. Single. Day.

Happy Tuesday šŸ„‹
