Trying to unload the alfalfa I picked up this morning, but Sally the goose has decided her pool is gross and I need to handle that right now! Whatever makes Sally happy, I reckon. She did just hatch our first chicken on the ranch, after all, who has been rather appropriately named “Sully”.

Horse naps are apparently the new cool thing to do around here! Our boys are apparently loving night turnout and racking out hard in their stalls. Would be nice if I could get Flynn to at least show signs of life and quit making me think he died! Even the new kid, Lad, is already on the stall napping trend! 😂😂

This is how I feel walking Waffles some days! In other news: where do I get a tiny horse like that???

Good advice from our friends at Woodside Equine Clinic

Horse show season is here and so is increased exposure to infectious disease. 🐴🦠

Practicing good biosecurity at shows helps protect not only your horse, but the entire equine community. A few simple habits can make a big difference:

✔️ Don’t share water buckets, hoses, or tack
✔️ Avoid nose-to-nose contact between horses
✔️ Monitor your horse’s temperature daily while traveling
✔️ Wash hands and disinfect equipment regularly
✔️ Keep vaccinations current before show season begins
✔️ Isolate and monitor any horse that seems “off” after returning home

Shows bring horses from many different farms and regions together, which increases the risk of disease spread, even when horses appear healthy. Staying proactive helps keep everyone safer and minimizes disruptions to your competition season.

Questions about vaccines, travel recommendations, or show season wellness? Our team is happy to help you prepare for a healthy and successful season. 💙

It’s a hot one today, so we brought the horses in for a few hours to keep them under fans and resting comfortably before getting some more turnout later this evening. A few pics of some of our gang chilling in their stalls to beat the heat.

In the meantime, Tim knocked out the new wash stall so the horses can get cool baths later! Beth and Gentleman took it for a test drive and gave their stamp of approval.

New home for our chicken nuggets! Still have to build the door for the front, but pretty happy with this spontaneous build yesterday. We used to use a horse stall for a grow out room, but we’re full of horses this year, so we had to add on!

If all my boarders don’t start and contribute to a Go Fund Me to buy this for the arena, they don’t really love me.

🤣🤣🤣

Just wanna take a moment to apologize to all my fellow farmers in King George. If I had realized Mother Nature was just waiting for me to start mowing my dead scraggly lawn before she would allow it to rain, I would have done it much sooner.

Needs some water (what doesn’t in KG right now?) but you’d never guess how churned up this arena was after lessons yesterday! Crystal had Anabella running Brandy on barrels, followed by Carla teaching Abby and Amelia (at the same time!) on Smokey and Hunter and Tim worked with Brynlee on Lucky. It was a busy day yesterday! Arena sand is fresh and dragged now, though, ready for the next rider to have their best ride on their best horse ever. Happy Tuesday!
