IHRA Announces It Will No Longer Promote the Sheboygan Midwest Challenge
FAIRFIELD, Ohio – The International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) today announced that it will no longer promote the Sheboygan Midwest Challenge, originally scheduled for August 7–9, 2026, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
Our goal had been to complete the 2026 Offshore National Championship season with one final event for our racers, teams, partners, and fans. However, after a comprehensive review of our offshore operations, IHRA has determined it is unable to continue as the event promoter.
“We know this news will be disappointing to our racers, teams, sponsors, and fans,” said an IHRA representative. “We sincerely appreciate everyone’s support throughout the 2026 season. While we are unable to move forward with promoting the Sheboygan Midwest Challenge, we are grateful to the City of Sheboygan and all of our partners for their support and understanding.”
As a result, the 2026 IHRA Offshore National Championship will conclude based on the final points standings following the most recent championship event at Lake of the Ozarks in central Missouri. National Champions in each class will be officially crowned based on those results.
With IHRA no longer promoting the Sheboygan Midwest Challenge, the IHRA Pro Watercraft Series event scheduled alongside the race weekend has also been canceled. The Pro Watercraft Series will continue its season as scheduled with its next event in Williamsburg, Virginia, September 4–6.
IHRA extends its sincere appreciation to the City of Sheboygan, Visit Sheboygan, local partners, volunteers, sponsors, race teams, officials, and everyone who has supported the Midwest Challenge over the years. Their commitment and partnership have been invaluable to the event’s success.
Additional inforation regarding the final 2026 IHRA Offshore National Championship standings will be announced through IHRA’s official communication channels.
