So here's the thing, when I got to 1000 subscribers on YT a few years ago, I did a video talking about other RC channels that I think deserve more recognition. You can see where this is going right?

There are many, MANY RC racing Content creators out there that deserve our attention. In this post I'll list as many as I can that I think need more spotlight. Unfortunately I can't really directly link off to their channels as FB will bury this post if I do. Below are listed all the channel names that I think should be given more attention, in no particular order.

Dirt Concepts - 2.48k subs. Very informative and easy to follow VLOGs
Instinct RC - 748 subs. Entertaining VLOGs with cool insights to how Upside down racing works
Daily Dose of RC - 3.36k subs. A great place if you like UK based
The No Name Rc Podcast - 9.33k subs. You already know them, get them to 10k
Trishbits - 4.07k subs. Interesting RC tales from a Schumacher engineer perspective
RRLRC - 3.15k subs - By far the best presentation I've seen of RC events
JV Goes Racing - 602 subs. Puts a LOT of effort into both his racing and his video presentation
Travis RC - 1.9k subs. Very Entertaining RC racing VLOGs to watch while wrenching
Down & Quiet RC 832 subs - Father Son duo that also makes entertaining VLOGs from an average racer's perspective
RC on my Mind - 3.92k subs - Ich muss Deutsch lernen.
TOKOLOKO RC - 1.28k subs - Well presented RC guides and VLOGs based in FL

I absolutely missed a few channels I'm probably blanking on as I write this post, especially if you count the basher/drifting/crawling channels. So if you have a channel you'd like to shout out, tell me in the comments below.

Midnight thoughts about the RC racing online "ecosystem" as it were, along with my own regrets. I feel like as time goes on, more and more RC posts (along with most posts online in general) have become rage bait. Some kind of take that's supposed to be controversial or against the status quo to get more engagement on said post.

I see this in the fullsize car community and gaming community all the time and it's both annoying and tragic. Unfortunately I've seen this seep into the RC community as well, not just racing but RC as a whole.

Now if you were to ask me what my biggest regret in content creation is, it was probably framing one of my older videos as a rant to do exactly that, drive up engagement. There are many different ways I could've conveyed that topic in a more constructive light, but I didn't, and that hurts me.

Now I'm not naive, I know that even positive or constructive posts will always garner some level of negative reaction, but something about looking at different posts whose only purpose is to get people angry, concerns me.

Tl;DR: Rage bait doesn't make me angry, it makes me sad.

Midnight RC racing thoughts. I feel like there's friction between different RC racers regarding where they came from regarding motorsports. I personally found RC racing via a love for Rally, RallyX and pretty much any tarmac racing you can think of that wasn't Motocross or Supercross. I also didn't get into RC racing until relatively recently.

This is why I always find it odd when I see a post or comment about what is and isn't offroad. I also find it odd when people will complain about a track not being broken up or loamy enough for their personal taste when they themselves aren't racing on said surface. What I find most odd is when people will proclaim that only "X" is real racing and therefore should be the only way we race.

Thing is, the RC vehicles we race with are designed to be at least somewhat versatile, even the 10th scale stuff like this B84 you see below. Why not enjoy that versatility regarding all the places that we can race? From blown out cratered tracks to swept and prepared surfaces and everything in between, they all can be raced on with (Mostly) the same buggies and trucks.

TL:DR - Have fun on the surface you have, there could be be no surface at all...

Midday thoughts about RC racing. There are a couple of younger drivers who I've raced since they got into the hobby, many of them are faster than me now.

I can think of three off the top of my head.

I've unfortunately seen some other drivers get upset at the prospect of getting beaten by a young kid. So much so that they refrain from teaching them things they learned themselves under the excuse of "Well I had to learn on my own, why don't they?"

This mindset, for lack of a better word, is incorrect. Seeing a kid with talent grow into a great driver that can give you a run for your money and surpass you in speed is part of the goal of the hobby as it stands now. We WANT to nurture those young drivers and make their experiences better. Otherwise we won't have a hobby to enjoy anymore.

Late night thoughts. There's this manga that I was passing through called Vinland Saga. (It's pretty good I'll read more of it later) One of the quotes in it that resonated with me was "I have no enemies".

One of the things I've seen as an RC content creator, and in the content creation space in general is the idea of dealing with/owning your "haters". So many content creators get really hung up on trying to gain success, not out of a love of the community they've garnered, but out of spite towards the people who despise them. They then focus different videos and posts on those "haters" as a way to get back at them.

Let me be clear, I have dealt with some less than charitable comments and DMs from time to time. It comes with the territory. Thing is they don't really register to me for very long, and they never stick around long enough to matter.

I don't make content to spite those "haters". I make content because I've managed to help build what I think is the most positive RC racing community on YouTube, however small it may be. I'll be damned if I let that go.

Any who. As you can see, I have a kit to build. Good luck to all those racing this weekend. Have a good night 👍
