I just wanted to say that this being my final season of coaching has been rewarding, challenging and satisfying all rolled into one year. Each one of you will have great careers in whatever you endeavor and I can’t wait to see what the future holds with each and every one of you albeit softball, track, baseball, cheerleading, lacrosse, basketball, etc.
I really enjoyed getting to know yall and for you to give me the opportunity to coach the team. You all have such great talent, and I wish we would have been able to continue as a team, but I know it’s time for me to retire and enjoy watching each of you in whatever you decide to do.
Times have changed in the 27 years of me coaching and I truly think this was the most talented team assembled. I enjoyed all the parents’ dedication and conversations throughout the year and hope we can continue the friendships we have developed.
I want to specifically thank Charles Howard for really digging in and supporting the team in his hard work hitting balls, developing a fun and productive atmosphere and giving everyone “nicknames”. I appreciate his friendship and listening to my rants and raves.
I appreciate everything the Jones family has done for all the team from keeping us hydrated, keeping GameChanger and being our recruiting support.
Lastly, I would like to thank the Stars organization for providing us an awesome facility and creating an atmosphere to challenge the status quo and bring us to the next level.

Good man right there.

In September 1990, Bo Jackson hit a hard one-hopper back at Nolan Ryan, and it hit Nolan in the face. It put a 2-inch gash in his lip that required six stitches. The blood poured, Nolan threw the ball to first, and he kept pitching without leaving the field. He didn’t even wipe the blood off his face! He told the trainer to keep his ass in the dugout, threw seven innings of 1-run ball, and got his stitches after the game.

Nolan said the injury wasn’t a factor, and that whatever happens during the game, you have to put it out of your mind. And that’s the definition of hard work. To keep going. If you’re hurt, if you’re tired, just keep going. For your team, and for your family. No matter what.

We earned our berth this past Fall and have been preparing to slug it out this week!!!
