Tee box is lying to you!
Have you ever noticed that tee markers are often pointed in a completely different direction than your target? One of the most common mistakes new golfers make is using the tee box to aim instead of picking a proper target line.
A great way to improve your alignment is to find an intermediate target a few feet in front of your ball that’s directly on your intended target line. This could be a divot, a leaf, a discolored patch of grass, or any small object that’s easy to see.
Using a nearby reference point makes alignment much easier and helps ensure you’re aimed where you actually want the ball to go—not where the tee box happens to be pointing. This simple habit can dramatically improve your accuracy off the tee.
