Here's what Tracy Kienitz sees in almost every first-year competitive woman who comes back for year two:

She got her gun fitted. Her scores went up. Then they stopped.

Because fit is one of four pillars, not the whole answer. Vision, fit, equipment, mindset. All four working together is what gets a woman shooting consistently at the registered level. Skip one and the other three can only take you so far.

The mindset piece is the one most women skip. Not because they don't care, but because nobody told them it was trainable. The ability to stay focused after a miss, trust your mount on the next target, and manage competition pressure without letting it change your mechanics are skills, not personality traits.

Women who work on them see real results. Women who don't leave points on the table no matter how well their gun fits.

Meet The Lady Outlaw before you leave the Heartland Grand this weekend.

She's got a shorter length of pull, a higher Monte Carlo comb, and a lighter front end, so instead of fighting your shoulder round after round, she moves with you. That's the difference between finishing a 200-target day sore and finishing it strong.

If this was your first full competitive trap season, you're a week or two away from closing the book on it.

Before September 1 rolls around and the new ATA target year opens, Tracy wants you to ask yourself one question: what did this year actually teach you?

Not what your scores say. What you know now about your gun, your technique, and your mental game that you didn't know when September started.

That answer is your roadmap for year two.

Tracy Kienitz has watched women finish their first competitive target year at for years. The patterns are consistent.

The most common thing holding women back isn't lack of talent or practice.

It's a gun that was never properly fitted, a mental game that never got the same attention as their mechanics, and expectations set against practice scores instead of what competition really asks.

None of that is permanent. All of it is fixable. And the window to fix it before the new target year opens is right now.
