Community members, we are asking for your help!
💕Our teams, Kalamazoo Roller Derby and Kalamazoo Killer Beez Junior Roller Derby, have recently lost our practice and bout space. 😔This leaves our skating community with nowhere to gather.
🛼Here’s what we're asking for: We need a practice space with MINIMUM 108 ft by 75 ft and a floor smooth enough to skate on: sport court, concrete of any kind, hardwood, laminate, etc. Ideally the space would be in the Kalamazoo area (Portage, Paw Paw, Mattawan, Schoolcraft). Both teams are non-profit.

Join Rootead for a celebration on Saturday June 20th, 2026 from 1-7PM at Bronson Park!

The history of Juneteenth: On June 19, 1865, Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to announce the end of slavery and ensure all slaves were freed. This event occurred more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed, marking the delayed enforcement of freedom for over 250,000 enslaved African Americans in the state.

Juneteenth is now commemorated to acknowledge emancipation and resilience. Celebrating can include community parades, cookouts, historical readings, and festivals with days of rest and educational reflection on the ongoing fight for equality.

Kalamazoo Roller Derby would like to acknowledge and honor Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month this May!

We are so thankful to have such a rich and diverse roller derby community and culture and would like to celebrate all AAPI this month and shine a spotlight on the beauty of the many cultures included in AAPI!
