☀️ Spending time outside? Don’t skip the sunscreen. Whether you're hiking at Markin Glen, relaxing by the lake at Prairie View, or enjoying a picnic at Cold Brook, UV rays can be strong—even on cloudy days. 🧴🏖

Apply SPF before heading out, and reapply every couple hours (or after swimming or sweating). Protecting your skin helps you enjoy the parks all summer long—safely.

Whether you're bringing your own boat or renting a kayak, our county parks offer plenty of opportunities to get outside and explore.

Planning a visit to Arthur & Mildred Woollam Nature Preserve? To help protect its unique ecosystem, only kayaks rented on-site are permitted on the preserve's waters.

Wherever you choose to explore, we hope you'll enjoy a safe and memorable day on the water! ⛵🌿

Did you know?

Prairie View County Park is the oldest county park, acquired in 1960. Since then, the county has worked to conserve and restore the park’s natural features.

The park features 210 acres along the shores of Gourdneck Lake and Hogsett Lake. Prairie View is home to white-tailed deer, great horned and barred owls, bluebirds, monarch butterflies, and many other native Michigan wildlife species.

The combination of scenic views and abundant wildlife makes Prairie View County Park a perfect place to explore this summer!
