Yesterday was just an amazing day on the river. Bill and I headed out for yet another adventure that ended with 25 fish netted. We both lost big browns but that didn’t stop us from having fun and catching plenty of other fish. Flies that worked for us were, Pats Rubber Legs, tactical Tan Caddis, green we**ie, and a fly that I didn’t name yet.

The bite is on. October can be one of the best fishing months on the river. I was out on the river Friday afternoon for a few hours and the temps are perfect 57-59 is what I was getting as a surface temp. The bite is starting to pick up. The bite was definitely deep all day but in the evening as I was getting off surface activity was picking up.

I could tell you a true fish story about a 25” male brown that I hooked up with acted more like a tarpon off the FL coast. Seriously I think he was going for his aviators license he was airborne so much. Anyway rather tell a story about you and a big brown.

On Wednesday Bill and I had another adventure out to the J. The bite was slow throughout the day. Bill landed this beautiful Smallmouth along with 11 others. I couldn’t get a fish in the net all day lol, but boy did I loose a big one in the grass.

Friday evening after dinner I went out on the lake to try a new Dragonfly pattern I have been working on. Have to say it’s a keeper for the box. Flies like these can be a day changer or just what you need to teach a child. It will catch them all. How about the colors on the Green Sunfish.

Marci and I took it easy yesterday enjoyed some sun, music and a lot of Smallmouth. This was by far the most explosive take of the day. So much fun on the fly rod and we didn’t need waders. lol.
