Cascades Golf Course

Cascades Golf Course The course was established in 1929 and is operated by the Jackson County Parks Department.
(277)

The Cascades course, located in the southern part of the City of Jackson, is a course that a golfer must play if he or she wants to play one of the best public courses in Michigan. For our golfers convenience, in 2008, state of the art GPS was added to our fleet of carts. Cascades is challenging, long by most standards, and features water and beautiful scenery. The signature hole is # 17, a par fo

ur measuring 383 yards from the white tees. A creek runs across the fairway 240 yards out and the approach is played to a severely sloped green guarded by trees and bunkers.

Reynolds wins Spring Thaw Golf at Cascades

By Jeff Steers
For Jackson Golf Committee

Borrowing a line from former MLB manager Yogi Berra, Sunday on the back nine must have felt like Deja vu all over again for Jackson golfer Nick Reynolds.
Reynolds trailed by four shots heading into the final nine holes – in second place.
He has finished second in more than a dozen major tournaments in Jackson County over the past few years.
Reynolds battled back for a one-shot win in the Spring Thaw Golf Tournament Sunday at Cascades Golf Course.
He finished the weekend with a 145 for two rounds and his first two-day major win. Reynolds has won the Tournament of Champions Tournament twice giving him three majors.
First-round leader Brian C**n finished second at 146 and slew of high schoolers dominated the rest of the top 10.
Lumen Christi golfers Brandon Kulka and Sam Swihart tied with Northwest senior Jake Brafford at 147.
Gabe Cooper of Lumen Christi was the only golfer in the championship flight under par with a 1-under-par 71 tying for sixth place with Riley Hestwood.
Steve Maddalena, Cody Lysher, and Trevor Raymond cashed in by finishing in the top 10.
Cascades Golf Course finally bit back after years of winning scores that were way under par.
Reynolds said he had “nothing to lose” heading into the back nice.
“It was match play with Brian from that point,” Reynolds said. “I thought I was going to finish second again.
“I have been so close so many times.”
Reynolds said an indoor practice area at the Country Club of Jackson helped keep him sharp during the winter months. A new outlook also helped Reynolds in the win.
“I was frustrated at not winning tournaments,” Reynolds said. “I quit putting so much pressure on myself and began thinking more about just being in it (the mix for the win).”
