Celebrate. Belong. Social media is an amazing tool to help tell stories and promote events and our partners, keeping you informed of exciting developments in the City With Soul. It has also shown itself to be a place where followers feel they can "say anything" that comes to mind as it pertains to our partners and our city. To be clear, Visit Jackson and our associated brands - The City With Soul,

My City JXN MS, Jackson Bicentennial and Eat JXN - won't be your sounding board for the kind of dialogue (or in many cases, monologue) that does nothing to uplift or edify the work we are doing to shine a light on the positives. If our content - always positive in nature - incites a response in you that is anything but positive, we ask that you kindly hold your tongue (or fingers, as it were) or simply unfollow our pages. It really is that simple and will prevent you from seeing content that engenders a negative emotion. With that in mind, our policy is officially as follows:

• Visit Jackson monitors our profiles and pages but is not responsible for content generated by you, our users. Posted comments and images do not necessarily represent the views of Visit Jackson. Our profiles and pages may contain links to other web sites on the Internet. This does not constitute an endorsement by us.

• Visit Jackson is fiercely committed to reflecting and upholding the value of diversity of thought, culture, and lifestyles that is inherent in the Jackson community. We are dedicated to practicing radical inclusion and believe that a plurality of ideas and experiences shaped around civil dialogue and equitable outreach is the driving and consistent force that makes Jackson a great destination and a great city.

• We do not allow profanity, obscenity, vulgarity, racism, homophobia, nudity, defamation of character, advertising, or political campaigning on the social media pages of Visit Jackson. Such content will be hidden or removed or you may be banned from our pages altogether.

• Comments whose main purpose are to sell a product, infringe on copyright, or spam comments, such as the same comment posted repeatedly on the same or different posts at the same time or at different times, or comments that are incendiary, inflammatory or inaccurate, may also be hidden or removed or you may be banned from our pages. We understand that social media is a 24/7 medium; however, our monitoring capabilities are not. We may not see every inappropriate comment right away, and we are trusting in the maturity of our community to ignore personal attacks and negative speech or respond politely.

Today, we join many across Mississippi in mourning the passing of Representative Bo Brown.

Representative Brown’s legacy extends beyond public service. As a former Jackson City Council member, broadcaster, community advocate, and state legislator, he understood the importance of telling Jackson’s story, preserving its culture, and supporting the people and places that make our capital city a destination worth experiencing.

Tourism is ultimately about people—the leaders who champion communities, celebrate local heritage, and help create an environment where residents and visitors alike feel welcomed. Representative Brown’s lifelong commitment to Jackson reflected those values. His work in government, community relations, and public engagement contributed to the civic fabric that supports our city’s continued growth and vitality.

On behalf of MY CITY JXN.MS, a Visit Jackson brand, we extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and all who had the privilege of knowing and serving alongside him.

May we honor his memory by continuing the work of building stronger communities and sharing the story of Jackson with pride.
