Today we start building something important in Huntington.
Six individuals stepped onto the field today as referees.
That means six new people willing to learn the game from a different perspective, make tough decisions, and help make sure our kids have games to play.
Now it’s our job to PROTECT THEM.
They are learning. They will make mistakes. Every referee does. Yelling at them, embarrassing them, or questioning every call doesn’t make them better, it makes them quit.
And we can’t afford to lose them.
If we want soccer to continue growing in Huntington and the surrounding area, we have to build our referee pool right along with our players and teams.
So coaches, parents and players, please support these new officials. Encourage them. Be patient with them. Thank them after the game.
Today we added six referees. Our goal is to make sure all six want to come back next weekend.
That’s how we grow the game.
