About 90% of the riders who underestimate this mountain leave early.

The forecast might get a little moody—but Shepherd sheds water well, and honestly, the dust could use a drink. Shuttles keep rolling through the rain; we’ll only pause if lightning decides to join the ride.

 It’s Too Hot.

Today’s heat is not the fun kind of sketchy.

For the safety of our staff, shuttles and the Wheelhouse are closed today. We also strongly recommend skipping strenuous outdoor activity because no lap is worth getting cooked on the mountain.

Stay cool, hydrate, and save the send for another day.

Typically we run with heat indexes up to 105...Feel like temps of 111 are just insane!

At 85 years young, Mr. Martin from Arcadia, MO just hiked Steep—the most challenging hiking trail at Shepherd Mountain.

And Steep earns its name. The first stretch feels like it goes straight up, climbing more than half the mountain’s elevation before finally leveling out for a breather and a more gradual push to the top.

Mr. Martin did it on his own. 600’ elevation gain, 3 mile loop.

No excuses. No shortcuts. Just grit, determination, and one impressive climb.

Here’s to you, Mr. Martin! You’ve officially raised the bar for the rest of us. đŸ‘â›°ïž
