We are all home from great tournament weekend.
We were a bare bones team. As last minute we lost Sharon and Suitcase to illness.
So it was me (Tatum, Izzy and Laura).
We recruited Kate Corum and Vintage to be our fourth! Vintage is now a Blue Past You dog for a time so we didn't have to run pick up. Thank you Kate, Rude Dogs and CDS for allowing the team switch.
Team dogs were Brock, Kaos, Vintage, and Kit.
Back up was Hookfang. Thank goodness I didn't need to bring him out. I seriously can't race my two boys together. Both are start dogs. So running them both would be extremely difficult.
Hookfang did run singles.
Brock and I were on fire this weekend with starts. Once we found our sweet spot, we were basically unstoppable. Brock is my favorite to run because he doesn't get emotional on me like Hookfang does. Brock just wants to run and do his job for me. I would like to work on him in a passing position of time and place allows it.
Kaos I think loved her boys team. She ran great all weekend. Pretty sure she made no mistakes. Love that tiny dog. She keeps up with her boys. 😍
Kitty did great! He does better as the anchor dog. He likes to close the gap, but is starting to pirate ship when behind. So we will add that to the list to try to work on when we can. He did great. I think he was happy he was running for his momma though. As usually he gets a different handler. So it was even better to see him as a team with his mom.
Vintage did great! Even when one of the kiddos ran him. He did better in third. He had a few bobbles, but he certainly saved our team for the weekend.
Hookfang in singles was kind of eh. He still gave me a decent time on the second round.
First round I couldn't find a spot on the mat and was early. Then when I had a decent start, Hookfang stopped before the box and came back. He said no. He wasn't racing anyone. His joy just wasn't there. Hes a dog that is emotional. I can usually feel that joy on the lanes. It just wasn't there. I never re run singles. So we had four No Finishes.
Second round out was a bit better. He still wasn't racing anyone, but we managed to clock times. So we got a 3.6 at least.
It would have been nice to have decent competition. But I hope he was able to help the racers we ran against. As singles is great for green dogs.
We had a lot of fun together. I can't wait for the next one and for next practice.
I love racing these dogs.
Karen and GG came to hang out. They did well just chilling around with us.
I wish we got more video, but alas that didn't happen.
I also helped Hair Of The Dog Flyball Club too. As they were also bare bones. I got to run and box load. They had a great consistent team put together.
Now we are just ready to keep working on things and be ready for the next tournament.
It was so much fun being with the team this weekend. Can't wait to do it again soon.
