Congratulations to our Tennessee Valley Defenders Head Football Coach & Athletic Director, Coach Kelvis White, on being honored tonight at the NAACP Morgan County Branch 5024 All the Kings Men Awards!

It was truly a blessing to be there to support Coach White as he was recognized alongside an outstanding group of men for his leadership, accomplishments, and impact in our community.

We see the work you put in every day....not only building athletes, but helping develop young men of character, discipline, faith, and purpose. Tonight, it was great to see someone who pours so much into others receive his flowers.

Congratulations, Coach White! This recognition is well deserved. We are proud of you!

BEYOND THE SHIELD: CALLED TO LEAD

This past week, we were honored to welcome Rodney Gordon, President of the Morgan County NAACP, as a guest speaker for our Beyond the Shield: Called to Lead series.

Mr. Gordon did an outstanding job speaking to our student-athletes about making the right decisions....a message that was right on time.

He reminded our young men that the decisions they make today can impact their opportunities, their reputation, and ultimately their future. Leadership isn't only about what you do when everyone is watching; it's about having the discipline and character to make the right choice when no one is watching.

Our mission goes far beyond wins and losses. We're preparing young men for life beyond the shield....developing character, accountability, leadership, and purpose.

Thank you, Mr. Gordon, for pouring into our Defenders and investing in the next generation of leaders.

FROM DEFENDER… TO CHAMPION… TO COACH.

The Tennessee Valley Defenders are proud to welcome back Coach Kylon Campbell, returning for Year Two as Defensive Line Coach.

Coach Campbell’s history with the Shield runs deep. In 2020–2021, he suited up as a Defender and helped the program capture its first-ever championship during their prep-school era. He later took his talents to professional arena football in Georgia, where he added two more championships to his résumé.

Now, the three-time champion is back where his journey started-pouring his experience, knowledge, and love for the game into the next generation of Defenders.

Once a Defender. Always a Defender.

FROM LAST CHANCE U TO THE DEFENDERS SIDELINE...

The Tennessee Valley Defenders are proud to introduce Daquon Godfrey, Running Backs Coach for Defenders Football.

A Huntsville product, Coach Godfrey graduated from J.O. Johnson/Mae Jemison High School, Class of 2017, before taking his talents to the collegiate level.

Coach Godfrey attended Independence Community College, where his journey became part of Netflix's nationally recognized football documentary series, Last Chance U. During his time at Independence, he competed against high-level talent, played alongside multiple future NFL players, and earned a championship ring.

His journey continued at UAB, where he was part of a program that captured a division championship and achieved bowl eligibility during his time with the Blazers.

Coach Godfrey's playing career put him in the trenches with and against elite-level athletes, giving him firsthand knowledge of the preparation, discipline, physicality, and mentality required to compete at a high level.

But his impact goes beyond football.

Through relationships and networking developed during his college career, Coach Godfrey also became an entrepreneur, launching his own cardio and respiratory training business....another example of turning the opportunities created through athletics into something bigger than the game.

Now he's bringing those experiences back home and pouring them into the next generation as the Running Backs Coach for the Community Christian College-Tennessee Valley Defenders.

From Huntsville to Independence to Last Chance U to UAB and back home to the Tennessee Valley.

He's been in the room.
He's played on the stage.
He's earned the ring.
Now it's time to develop the next one.
