Still smiling after this one. đŸ€đŸŒŠ

Our 2026/2027 LSC Institute Meet & Greet was everything we hoped it would be — and so much more.

Hundreds of our students, families, teachers, beach staff, and community members came together by the ocean to connect, catch up, meet new faces, and celebrate the start of another incredible school year.

There is something so special about watching this community come together. Seeing new friendships already forming, returning families reconnecting, students meeting their teachers, and our incredible teaching and beach staff getting to know the families they’ll be spending this year alongside made us even more excited for everything ahead.

What began as an idea has grown into a community that we are incredibly proud of — one built around connection, adventure, learning, creativity, and giving kids a childhood and education filled with experiences they’ll remember. đŸŒŠâ˜€ïž

To every family who came out and spent the morning with us: thank you. Thank you for trusting us with your kids, for believing in what we’re building, and for continuing to make LSC Institute the community that it is.

And to our AMAZING 2026/2027 team — we could not be more excited for our families to experience everything you’re bringing to this year. đŸ€

The countdown is officially ON.

Here’s to new friendships, big adventures, meaningful learning, sandy feet, and our best year yet.

2026/2027
 we’re ready for you! 🌊✹

LSC INSTITUTE TEAM 2026/27 đŸ€đŸŒŠ

Today our incredible teachers and administrative team came together for our 2026/27 Teacher Training, and we couldn’t have asked for a better way to kick off the new school year.

It was a day filled with collaboration, connection, fresh ideas, meaningful conversations, lots of laughs, and one shared goal: to make this our best year yet for our students and families.

There is something pretty special about getting this many passionate, talented, creative, and genuinely caring people in one room. Every person pictured here brings something unique to LSC Institute, but what we love most is how deeply this team believes in creating an environment where kids feel known, supported, challenged, encouraged, and excited to learn.

After today, we are more energized than ever for what’s ahead. Our students and families are truly in for a treat with this crew. đŸ„čđŸ€

The classrooms are getting ready. The plans are coming together. The energy is HIGH
and we cannot wait to hit the ground running!

Here’s to the 2026/27 school year — our best one yet. ✹

KEEP ADVENTURING. đŸŒżđŸ›¶âœš

Yesterday was one of those days we’ll be talking about for a long, long time.

Our family kayaked 2 miles up the river, took the right at the fork near the river mouth, pulled the kayaks ashore and trekked another 1Πmiles through the jungle to Secret Falls. And at the end of it all
we got to jump in and swim beneath the waterfall. 🌊đŸŒș

Then came the journey home — 1ÂŒ miles back through the jungle and another 2 miles in the kayaks. Tired arms, muddy feet, huge smiles and the kind of memories you just can’t manufacture.

It was wild. It was beautiful. It was purely magical. And easily one of the best adventures our family has ever done.

Days like this remind us why we believe so deeply in raising kids who aren’t afraid to explore, get dirty, try hard things and see what’s waiting a little farther down the trail.

The world is still so full of wonder.

Keep going places.
Keep trying things.
Keep showing your kids how big and beautiful this life can be.

Most of all
 KEEP ADVENTURING. đŸ€™đŸŒđŸŒżđŸŒŠ

Meet Tom Cruise. 🩭🌊😂

Because apparently casually cruising the coastline of Kauaʻi and making an entrance like this deserved a name.

I was literally walking out of the water after snorkeling when Jason started filming and this guy just swam right by us along the shoreline. We stopped in our tracks and watched him cruise past, completely in his own little world.

And then we learned just how special this moment actually was

Hawaiian monk seals are one of the rarest marine mammals on Earth and are found nowhere else in the world except HawaiÊ»i. There are only about 1,600 left in existence — and only around 400 live throughout all of the main Hawaiian Islands. đŸ€ŻđŸŠ

So to have one unexpectedly swim right past us while we were in the water felt pretty unreal. We kept our distance, let him do his thing, and just stood there completely in awe.

One of those wild, completely unplanned moments that ends up becoming a favorite memory from the whole trip. đŸŒș🌊

KauaÊ»i, you are something else. đŸ€

And Tom Cruise
 10/10 entrance 😂🩭🌊

TEACHER SPOTLIGHT đŸ’«

Please meet Ms. Andria Hornback, one of our TK Co-Teachers!

Andria holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and is continuing her studies in Early Childhood Education at Orange Coast College. After serving as a TK aide alongside Ms. Karina last year, we are so excited to have her stepping into a co-teaching role with our TK learners this year!

As a former homeschooling parent herself, Andria brings a special understanding of the homeschool journey and believes deeply in creating an environment where children feel known, valued, supported, and capable. Her approach is rooted in patience, kindness, meaningful relationships, and hands-on opportunities for children to explore, discover, and build confidence.

Andria and her husband live in Huntington Beach and have three adult children, two wonderful sons-in-law, and their very first grandchild on the way! đŸ€ She loves spending time with family and friends and creating opportunities to gather with the people she loves.

We are so grateful to have Ms. Andria continuing to grow with our LSC Institute community and can’t wait for all of the learning, discovery, and joy ahead for our TK students this year! 🌊✹

TEACHER SPOTLIGHT đŸ’«

Please meet Raquel Garcia, our 5th–8th Grade Math & Integrated Science Teacher!

Raquel’s love of math started early and only grew from there — she holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and is currently completing her Master of Science in Applied Statistics at California State University, Long Beach, which she is set to finish this winter.

With more than six years of tutoring experience, Raquel has worked with students from elementary through college level in mathematics, as well as high school through college-level chemistry and physics. Her experience spans everything from foundational math and early problem-solving skills to algebra, pre-calculus, calculus, statistics, and math-intensive sciences.

Most recently, Raquel served as a Math Tutor at Coastline Community College while also working as a MESA Project Coordinator supporting student programming and academic enrichment. Through her years of working with students, she has developed a strong ability to identify learning gaps, adapt her teaching to different learning styles, and find the explanation that helps a challenging concept finally click.

Her unique combination of mathematics, statistics, chemistry, and physics makes her such an exciting addition to our Jr. High Bridge Program! Raquel will lead both 5th–8th Grade Math and Integrated Science, bringing learning to life through real-world applications, hands-on investigations, projects, experimentation, and plenty of opportunities for students to think critically, problem-solve, and discover the why behind what they’re learning.

Raquel believes challenging subjects don’t have to feel intimidating. She is passionate about creating an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, working through challenges, and building genuine confidence along the way.

We are SO excited to welcome Raquel to the Little Surf Co. Institute team and can’t wait to see the curiosity, confidence, and critical thinking she inspires in our Bridge students this year!

TEACHER SPOTLIGHT đŸ’«

Please meet Raquel Garcia, our 5th–8th Grade Math Teacher!

Raquel’s love of math started early and only grew from there — she holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and is currently completing her Master of Science in Applied Statistics at California State University, Long Beach, which she is set to finish this winter.

Her path into teaching has been built one student at a time. With more than six years of tutoring experience, Raquel has worked with learners from elementary school all the way through the college level, supporting students in everything from foundational math & early problem-solving skills to algebra, pre-calculus, calculus, and statistics. Most recently, she served as a Math Tutor at Coastline Community College, while also working on campus as a MESA Project Coordinator supporting student programming & academic enrichment. Along the way, she has developed a strong ability to identify academic gaps, adapt her teaching to different learning styles, & find the explanation that helps a concept finally click. She also holds a 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit, giving her additional experience supporting students in the classroom.

Raquel grew up in Long Beach and now calls Costa Mesa home, so Southern California has always been the backdrop to her story. That local, familiar energy carries into her classroom, where she works hard to make sure every student feels comfortable raising their hand, asking questions, working through challenges, & even getting the answer wrong along the way.

Raquel is passionate about making math feel less like a subject to survive and more like a tool students can actually use. She loves connecting lessons to real-world applications so the why behind the numbers makes sense. She believes math doesn’t have to be intimidating — and that a little curiosity, the right explanation, & encouragement can turn “I’m just not a math person” into genuine confidence.

She is thrilled to be joining Little Surf Co. Institute & can’t wait to help our 5th–8th grade students build not only stronger math skills, but the confidence and problem-solving mindset to tackle challenges — in the classroom and beyond. 🌊

TEACHER SPOTLIGHT đŸ’«

Please join us in welcoming Silvana Davila to the LSC team!

Silvana was born in Peru and raised in Orange County, California. Her educational journey has taken her around the world, beginning with undergraduate studies in Paris, France, where she studied French at La Sorbonne University and Fine Arts at Parsons Paris. She later continued her Fine Arts studies in New York City at Parsons School of Art and Design. Over the last decade, Silvana has taught Spanish, Art, multiple grade levels, and has worked extensively with students with special needs, bringing a thoughtful and individualized approach to every classroom she leads.

Silvana is trilingual, speaking English, Spanish, and French, and has a deep love for art, languages, literature, music, science, and the natural world. She also holds a certificate in Expressive Arts Therapy, an interdisciplinary approach that uses artistic modalities—including writing, music, movement, and visual arts—to encourage self-expression, creativity, and personal growth.

Silvana believes that education is never one-size-fits-all. She strives to recognize each student’s individuality, interests, and learning style while supporting their academic, social, and holistic development. Whether she is teaching art, languages, science, or core subjects, Silvana brings learning to life through storytelling, hands-on exploration, mindfulness, creativity, and student-centered instruction.

This year, Silvana will also bring her diverse educational background and passion for the natural world into our 5th–8th Grade Integrated Science program on Wednesdays. Through an interdisciplinary and inquiry-based approach, she will help students explore concepts across life, earth, physical, and environmental science while encouraging them to ask questions, make connections, investigate the world around them, and think like scientists. Her creativity and experience working with a wide range of learners make her especially well suited to bringing complex scientific concepts to life in engaging ways.

She’s excited to inspire her students to explore the world through both an artistic and scientific lens!

EIGHT SUMMERS IN THE BOOKS.

And just like that
9 incredible weeks of Summer Surf Camp are officially complete, marking our 8th summer in the books!

What a wild, beautiful, exhausting, unforgettable ride it has been.

Eight years ago, we could have never fully imagined what Little Surf Co. would grow into—or how many incredible families, kiddos, coaches, memories, friendships, waves, wipeouts, breakthroughs and belly laughs would become part of our story.

One of the greatest gifts of doing this year after year is getting to watch your kids grow up with us. đŸ€ We’ve had little ones come to us nervous to even step into the ocean who are now confident surfers, returning summer after summer. We’ve watched friendships form, confidence grow, fears get conquered and kids discover just how capable they really are.

And every summer, we get to welcome new faces into the LSC family, too. To every family who trusted us with your kiddos this summer—and over the last eight years—THANK YOU. Thank you for showing up, spreading the word, coming back year after year and allowing us to be a small part of your children’s childhood summers. We never take that privilege for granted.

And to our incredible LSC staff
there simply wouldn’t be a Little Surf Co. without you. đŸ«¶đŸŒ

Thank you for pouring your time, energy, patience and heart into our students every single day. Thank you for the early mornings, the long beach days, the constant encouragement, the endless sunscreen reminders 😂, and for making every kid who comes through camp feel seen, supported and celebrated. You are the heartbeat of these summers, and we are so incredibly grateful for each of you.

And somehow, the universe gave us the sweetest little ending to Summer 2026

Our final day of our 9th and final week landed on Kayla’s birthday. There couldn’t have been a more perfect cherry on top of an already epic summer than wrapping up another season surrounded by our family, our team and this community that means so much to us.

From our family to yours, THANK YOU for continuing to believe in Little Surf Co., grow alongside us and make this crazy dream possible year after year.

That’s a wrap, Summer 2026! đŸ€™đŸŒ
