This is the story of how Jubilee Aerial came to be more than an idea.
Movement has always been my passion. I've studied dance, gymnastics, and acrobatics my whole life. Right out of high school, I was dancing professionally, teaching at a small local studio, going to school, and working food service jobs to pay the bills.
The I got really sick. My world stopped. I was told my dance career was over. I was broken and didn't know who to be without dance.
It took a long time, but I healed, physically and emotionally. I went back to school to study dance and education, and worked my way to Gymnastics and Dance Director at the YMCA. Eventually, I burnt out and decided to use my education degree. I entered the classroom full time but kept coaching part time.
When I discovered aerial arts, I instantly fell in love. I felt strong, creative, graceful. I felt like me again. I began performing and attending aerial teacher trainings, where I found, for the first time, people I connected with.
Years later, while still coaching part time, I took a remote full-time job to give myself a break from always having to be "on" as an educator. After four years though, I was told to move across the country or lose it. I was devastated.
Months of job hunting. Resumes. Portfolios. I wasn't getting anywhere. I felt exhausted and like a failure.
The one day, my husband asked: "What if you opened your own studio?" The vision immediately started to unfold. We got a business consultant, did the research, and I realized I had everything I needed: the passion, the drive, and the experience as an educator, a leader, a project manager.
Jubilee Aerial is a culmination of my passion and experience. A place where I can share what I love with my community. A safe place for building friendships and being authentic, where everyone is celebrated for being themselves.
