Every sheet of paper carrying that plea comes from the very thing it’s asking us to protect. It’s a tiny snapshot of a much bigger truth: humans often solve environmental problems by consuming the environment itself. Furniture, fuel, packaging — even the protest signs calling for preservation — all originate from forests.
The scale is staggering. The UN Food and Agriculture Organization estimates that around 10 million hectares of forest vanish each year — roughly 27 football fields every single minute. And yet, in the midst of this destruction, we still print messages urging protection. It’s ironic, absurd, and deeply human.
Maybe the message isn’t just “save the trees”. Maybe it’s a reminder to rethink how we live, how we consume, and how often we solve problems by creating new ones.
