THE COBRA PROGRAM IS TAKING SHAPE
The new uniforms came in yesterday, and they look great.
Our team’s appearance is set, and the identity is becoming stronger every day.

It’s finally starting to feel like the Cobra 🐍 vision is coming to life.

BLUECHIP CLINIC
BlueChip Basketball Academy has built a strong reputation over the past 15 years, running some of the top high‑school events in North Carolina.

I’m grateful for the chance to serve as a guest coach during the opening of their new facility and support their clinic. It’s meaningful to know that my coaching knowledge and experience are respected by programs of this level.

A big thank‑you to coaches Kishon Bishop and Clif Conley for the invitation and the trust.

POT STIRRER – FREEDOM 🥄🔥
Enes Kanter Freedom is a former NBA player and human-rights activist.

For years, he has spoken out against human-rights abuses in Turkey, China, and other parts of the world—often at a personal cost.

Earlier this month, Freedom publicly said he identifies as a woman and declared himself eligible for the 2027 WNBA Draft.

Yesterday, he attended the Chicago Sky vs. Indiana Fever game wearing a T-shirt that read:

“WOMAN. noun. adult. human. female.”

During the game, Freedom got into a heated confrontation with Chicago Sky player Natasha Cloud. Security stepped in, and he was escorted out of the arena.

WHAT DO I THINK?
Personally, I LOVE a good POT STIRRER… because I “IDENTIFY” as one myself. 😂🥄

My wife always says before we go somewhere or before guests come over:

“Please, try not to stir the pot this time. If there’s something you don’t agree with, just go to the bathroom or pretend you didn’t hear it.”

Easier said than done! 😂

🏀 1st FALL TOURNAMENT
Against all odds, it looks like I might have three teams in my first season. 💪🏼
Our “Development” Team (9th/10th graders) is still new to this level, but they showed real growth today.

GAME 1:
Started 5–0 and I wondered if we could really compete… then reality hit. 14–52.
Told myself, “Only you would sign up for this and still believe in miracles.” 🤣

GAME 2
Nerves gone, everyone stepped up, played like a team, and got the win. 37–18.
Didn’t have to wait long for that miracle.

GAME 3:
Bigger, stronger opponent again — but we kept the momentum and were one buzzer‑beater 3 point shot away from winning. 41–43.

There’s nothing better than watching young players grow through challenges.
Even adults can learn a lot from them.

Eldi should’ve his driver license in April and I’m not going to miss 11 years of those car lines. 🤮

When you hear a parent describe you that way to their own child or others, you realize you’re doing more than coaching — you’re impacting lives.

But I’m never done improving. The moment your drive fades, it’s time to chase new challenges.

“People don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care.”

1st SOS COBRAS PRACTICE
We kicked off the season today going over expectations — and man, it hits different when you hear other adults praising our players’ talent and skills. 🔥🐍

Proud to announce our coaching staff for the season:
• Coach Gabby Oglesby — Eldi’s former MS coach and a 2024 Guilford College Hall of Fame inductee. Big-time accomplishment. 🫡
• Coach Gabe Staub — worked with me years ago and pumped to have him back on the sideline. 🫡

Let’s run it up this season.

2ND & FINAL FALL TRYOUT
The gym was different tonight. Coach Bishop came through and set the tone, but the real story was how every player found that extra 2% and competed like it mattered.

Now the question is — do I need to keep bringing guest coaches, or can you unlock those 2% on your own when the lights aren’t on?

THE HIDDEN SIDE OF RECLASSIFICATION
“Oh, so you’re a young boy…” — Eldi’s ex‑girlfriend, first day of school.

Most people who follow American sports understand what reclassing is and why student‑athletes do it. If you have questions, drop them in the comments — I’m happy to share what I’ve learned.

Eldi’s year in Spain was his reclassification year. What we don’t talk about enough is the emotional side of reclassing. How does it feel to walk back into school as a 9th grader instead of a 10th?

Academically, he’s taking all Advanced classes and is on track to earn 15+ college credits by graduation. He’s not behind at all. But I still wonder: does going “back” bother him, or should I admire the strength he shows by staying locked in on both school and sports, ignoring the noise around him?

Elite athletes need the ability to erase the bruises around them and keep moving forward.

“Dad, I’m built different.”
He’s been telling me that for years — and maybe he’s right.

P.S. and as an old wolf I know what ex girlfriends teasing words in reality means 😉, but that’s something for him to discover in later days, but for now we continue staying girlfriend and boyfriend free house = no drama!
