Today’s Senior-Staff Spotlight is #76 Wyatt Scoles and his selection for recognition, Math teacher, Mrs. Amy Bry. Wyatt had this to say about Mrs. Bry:

“I picked Mrs. Bry because she’s always felt more like a friend than just a teacher. I’ve had her for two years now, and she’s always been super helpful in class. She explains things in a way that actually makes sense, and you can tell she really cares. Even if she’s having a rough day, she’s still willing to help anyone who needs it. If I ever needed advice or just someone to talk to, I’d go to her. She’s real, honest, and never acts like she’s above anyone else. That’s what makes her so easy to talk to and such a great teacher.”

Today’s Senior-Staff Spotlight is #22 Steven Katzenberger and his choice for recognition, Biology and Chemistry teacher, Mr. Bryan Yuvan. Here’s what Steven had to say:

“I chose Mr. Yuvan because when I had him my freshman and sophomore year he helped
me understand and open my eyes that if I want to succeed I have to show effort, be disciplined,
and work hard. Although he was mainly talking about succeeding in his class, these things are
what you need to succeed in life. These principles relate to football because you need these to be
a captain, good teammate, and a football player. My favorite memory of having Mr. Yuvan is
when he quoted Coach JB from Last Chance U. To thrive in a class you have to play the game,
this means going to class, sitting in the front, staying off phone, paying attention, and completing
your assignments. This is why I chose Mr. Yuvan and why I appreciate him as a teacher.”

Today’s Senior-Staff Spotlight is #78 Preston Guilbeaux and his choice Mr. Keith Krueger. Here’s what Preston had to say that warranted his selection:

“Mr. Krueger was my Algebra I teacher, and he was one of those teachers you never forget. He
was a really funny guy who always found a way to make math more enjoyable, but he also knew
when to be serious and get everyone focused. He was great at explaining how to do the work in
a way that actually made sense, and you could tell he cared about his students' learning.”

Today's Senior-Staff Spotlight is #50 Dylan Kowalski. Dylan selected our Dean of Students Mr. Kyle Boros. Here's what Dylan had to say about why he chose to recognize Mr. Boros:

"I chose Mr. Boros because he has helped me throughout my high school career by answering any questions I’ve had and supporting me with SCC. He’s always been willing to take the time to explain things clearly and make sure I understand. On top of that, we both share an interest in collecting cards, his support has helped me through my time at school."

Today's Senior-Staff Spotlight is #55 Trevan Swanson. He chose to recognize World History teacher Mr. Tyler Zolinski. Here's what Trevan had to say about Mr. Zolinski:

"I picked Mr. Zolinski because as a coach in powerlifting he spotted me every lift he could. I appreciate everything he has done for me. He has taught me how to lift heavy weight, block football plays, and even knowledge about our government. Zo is an amazing teacher, he makes class fun with debates and fun news Fridays."

"I am going to miss our conversations about who is winning against the Lions and Packers. Surprisingly I'm going to miss getting crap from him that the Lions are better than the Packers.
Mr. Zolinski has made a great impact on my life and has made me a better person. He always brings good energy to every huddle, classroom, and person."

Kicking Off Our Senior Spotlight Series!

This week, we’re starting a special series featuring our senior football players alongside a teacher or staff member of their choice: someone who’s made a lasting impact on their time here at HHS.

Our team’s success goes far beyond the field. This year, we’re proud to celebrate zero ineligibilities... not even a single warning! That’s a testament to the commitment, accountability, and hard work of our student-athletes, and the incredible teachers and staff who support them every day.

To our teachers: thank you for pouring into our kids, challenging them, believing in them, and helping them grow as students, athletes, and young men. This is your win, too.

First up is Senior #67 James Marolf and his choice, U.S. History teacher Mrs. Jennifer Whitford. James had this to say about Mrs. Whitford:

"I picked Mrs. Whitford because she teaches my favorite class and she is not just an amazing teacher, but also a wonderful person, and good judge of character. I picked her because on bad days she has always been there to make me happy... including the occasional hug"
