What If Willpower Isn’t the Problem?
Do a hard workout by yourself, in your garage, outside, or at a gym.
Now take that exact same workout and do it in a room full of people working beside you. Music going. A coach pushing you.
The workout didn’t change.
But somehow, you did.
You hold on a little longer. You pick the bar back up a little sooner. You push through the part where you normally would have stopped.
Not because you suddenly found MORE motivation or became more disciplined.
Because the people around you pulled more out of you.
We spend a lot of time thinking progress comes down to willpower. That we just need to want it more, work harder, or be more disciplined.
But your environment has a way of setting your standard for you.
Get around people who work hard, and working hard starts to feel normal. Get around people who challenge themselves, and you start challenging yourself too.
You still have to do the work.
But the right people make you want to do more of it.
Choose an environment that pulls the best out of you.
