When this department was first developed, athletics were the only service provided; in addition, we now offer a variety of activities to include programs for tiny tots, fitness classes, cultural arts and group encounters designed for senior citizens. We feel that the constructive use of leisure time in useful recreation pursuits will increase the participant's knowledge and skills, and improve their health (Mental and physical) is a community resource of great value.

*Fittings will be held at Rockingham Recreation Center (1 Rockingham Park Way, Penn Laird)
The Middle School Tackle Football League is for 7th and 8th Graders (*Grade as of 2026-2027 school year*). This league is being offered in cooperation with your local high schools and their football programs. Online registration will open on Monday, May 4 and close Friday, June 26 @ 5:00PM. Equipment fittings for helmets and shoulder pads will be Monday through Friday / June 1 through June 26 / *9:00AM – 4:00PM* at the Rockingham Recreation Center (CLOSED Friday, June 19-Holiday). Practices will be tentatively scheduled to start on Monday, August 17 and all practices will be held at your local high schools. The Bridgewater College Football Staff will be holding a free tackle clinic for every participant who is registered for this league. That tackle clinic will take place on Thursday, July 30 at the Rockingham Park at the Crossroads at 6:45PM (Helmets only, no shoulder pads). All games will be held at your local high school football fields. There will be an admissions charge for all spectators at the games. This is a competitive based league and play counts for players will not be required. Game schedule is TBD.

Join our Youth Volleyball Clinic for a fun and instructional experience! Players will learn volleyball fundamentals, improve their skills, and feel more comfortable and confident on the court. We’re excited to announce we’re launching an all-girls flag football league this fall! This is a great opportunity for middle school girls to play, compete, and grow in a fun and supportive environment. We will need enough players to field 4 teams to make this happen. If we don’t reach that number registered girls will be placed back into our co-ed league. Registration will open in June- spread the word and get your girls signed up! Bring the kid's for a fun craft at the Rockingham Recreation Center instructed by THE CREATIVE ART STUDIO. This class is open to ages 5 and older. Bring the kid's and let them create this "Under the Sea" craft on a 6"x12" piece of wood using shells and stones. They will be instructed step by step in making this project. They will begin by painting the ocean on the board. Next we will select shells and stones and glue them on to create the ocean with fish. Lastly, we will attach a string of jute for them to use for hanging at home. This will be a super fun craft they will enjoy making while having fun with others.
