Sometimes it’s not the matches our students win that make me the most proud. It’s seeing how they handle a loss, learn from it, and come back better the next time.

Today, Lilo dominated an all-girls gi division and brought home the gold. In no gi, she competed against the boys and lost. In the past, she’s lost matches to boys who were able to use their athleticism and experience against her. Today, we saw her technique and confidence beginning to close that gap.

She confidently stuffed takedowns, held her own standing, and showed a dangerous guard with strong grip fighting, and constant submission/sweep threats. Every match was close, and no one had an easy time against her.

Lilo continues to improve everyday and today her growth was impossible to miss.
