We hit the mountain bike trails at Cuyuna, traded the bikes for kayaks and got out on the water, then finished the day the only way you should after that much adventure… with ice cream! 🍦😂

Bikes. Kayaks. Family. Friends. Ice cream.
Hard to ask for much MORE than that.

This is what keeping access open looks like. 🏔️

The historic Palisade Wall along Alpine Tunnel Road was built more than 140 years ago as part of the railroad route to Alpine Tunnel.

In 2016, an avalanche severely damaged the wall and roadway, closing vehicle access beyond this point.

Years of planning, funding and hard work followed. Historic stone masonry was reconstructed, the roadway rebuilt, and in 2024 the road finally reopened.

Because of those efforts, we were able to drive this incredible piece of Colorado history ourselves.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who played a part in preserving this historic route and restoring public access. 👏

The trails we enjoy don't stay open by accident.

🏔️ A BIG DEVELOPMENT FOR PUBLIC LAND ACCESS

The State of Utah has officially joined BlueRibbon Coalition, Cache County, Clarkston Mountain Conservation and others in the legal fight to protect historic public access on Clarkston Mountain.

And this fight is about much more than one mountain.

At the center of the case is an important question: Can historic primitive routes lose their public protections simply because they’re considered “trails” rather than improved roads?

The Utah Attorney General and SITLA are now arguing that Utah law has long recognized primitive tracks, livestock trails, footpaths and other historic routes as public rights-of-way when the requirements for public use have been met.

The outcome could have implications for access to primitive routes throughout Utah—and potentially influence similar access battles elsewhere.

This is exactly why advocacy matters.

Public access can be lost one trail, one gate and one court case at a time. Supporting organizations willing to defend these routes—and staying informed about the decisions affecting them—is an important part of protecting recreation opportunities for future generations.

Alpine Tunnel 🏔️🚙

Just a short three-mile trail, but what waits at the end is pretty incredible.

Following the old railroad grade into the mountains, you're rewarded with an amazing piece of Colorado history that has survived more than 140 years in some pretty extreme conditions.

Even more impressive—we were able to drive all the way in thanks to years of work to restore access after major damage to the historic route.

We'll share more about that story soon.

🌲 Public land access and healthy forests go hand in hand.

The BlueRibbon Coalition recently shared a breakdown of what they call the myths vs. facts surrounding the Roadless Rule and the proposal to rescind it.

Their argument is that rescinding the rule would give local Forest Service managers more flexibility to actively manage forests, maintain critical access routes, reduce wildfire risk, and make decisions based on local conditions—while designated Wilderness protections and environmental review requirements remain in place.

For the MORE Crew, this is exactly why staying informed matters. Public land policy affects trail access, hunting, camping, overlanding, OHV recreation, wildfire management, and the future of the places we all enjoy.

The public comment period is open through September 21, 2026. We encourage everyone to read the information, do your own research, and make your voice heard.
