1st attempt: Well that's not what I expected! πŸ˜‚ 2nd attempt: Let's try a different approach.

This was the end of the ride yesterday, when it was ludicrously hot and humid. I had nothing left at this point, so can't believe I actually got this uphill line!

This was scarier than I expected. Took a few practice attempts. It's fairly low consequence, but for some reason - even though it was insanely hot - I didn't want to end up falling into the (admittedly shallow) water. I also didn't want to get my rear rims wet, which I amazingly (mostly) accomplished.

Finally got another group ride edit done! This ride demonstrates there are tons of lines on even simple obstacles. This was from about a month ago in early May. My broken toe was mostly healed, but still ached during and after this ride. Get time with the guys though!

In this penultimate episode of the series, watch Jim compete in the Spanish Cup in Cartagena. Similar to the other episodes, Jim provides his thoughts and reflections along with the riding. Stay tuned for the final episode, which drops tomorrow!

My friend and local trials rider Jim recently traveled to Europe to meet up with elite rider Debi Studer. Starting from Switzerland, they traveled through France and Spain, riding 1-2 trials parks a day. They even got some trials coaching before competing in the Spanish Cup in Cartagena. I'll be posting a total of 8 episodes of their adventures leading up to this year's Bentonville Bike Fest. Here's episode 1. Episode 2 drops tomorrow!

We had another fun group ride this week, despite fracturing my toe during the ride πŸ˜‘ Yes, I kept riding on it 😁 (didn't realize right away that it was probably broken).

Rides like this are a blast, showing that you can have fun with silly challenges on stupid stuff. The skinny triangle was made from slippery, wonky, rubber speed bumps (temporarily removed from the parking area during the winter, probably for plowing snow). The rocky line at the end included a crazy tippy concrete slab and no room to maneuver. Definitely challenging!

Also of note, I finally had the guts to do the wall drop during my warmup. The takeoff is scary since the grassy area is usually soft and/or soggy. You need to hop from the grass up a couple inches onto the concrete before dropping off. Failure to commit, miscalculating softness of the grassy earth, or spinning the rear wheel on the kick means you go OTB onto the pavement below. So. That forces you to focus on what you know you could do if it was at ground level. Anyway, I've been wanting to do that drop for years, so glad I finally had the guts to do it!

There are plenty of fun and ridiculous things to ride in this park. We sessioned a few of them.*WATCH NEXT* https://youtu.be/mDzAHf_cwAw*SUBSCRIBE* https://t...

I've been eyeing this drop for a few years, but it had always freaked me out. You need to get up into the lip of the wall, and the grassy area can be soft, soggy, and slippery. I finally went for it this week!

Hi folks! I'm proud to share that I am now distributing the book (US only) "Your Complete Guide to Trials Riding – Street Trials Augmented edition", by Julien Happich, which is the companion to the TrashZen website. I purchased an earlier version this book when I first got started riding trials and loved it! Particularly if you're just getting started riding trials, this is a great resource.

The definitive guide to learning bike trials with step-by-step tutorials.
